Ar6 mounting question

I am 5'7 and 115 ppounds. And i just bought ar6s and px12 jibs. and i was wondering how i should get them mounted. I ski 75% park 15%big mountain and 10% powder

it all depends on what you like. if your skiing 25 percent out of park on piste and off, center is most likley not what you want to do. but -2  or even -1 is not that much off from center but it will give you a bit more control all over the mountain .

you can ski around out the park fairly well with it a dead center (that's where I mounted mine) but it's all a personal preference. What ski did you ski last year and where was it mounted, I would go with something similar to that, probably either center or -1, if you're skiing that much park I wouldn't go much further than that, maybe -1.5.

I did this with my THalls a few seasons ago and HATED them in the park, it was hard to do anything on rails and landing switch was hard too. Just my personal preference though.

whats your opinion for them on rails?

 i too have ar6s and need to find where to mount..i do about half park half mountain..or maybe a little more mountain

I honestly dont know why people make a big deal about center mounting and rails... you have at least 100lb force pressing down on the rail and yet not even a pound of swing weight if you will on the sides. its all in your head if you cant grind without center mounted skis. That being said, like i told you -1 or -2 would be perfect.

I've never been a fan of center mounting. Honestly, all those people who say it makes a huge difference with rails and spins are full of it. A center mounted ski vs a non center mounted ski isn't going to be the difference between you being able to do a trick or not. The AR6 is made to be rode at -2.5, and they're amazing mounted there.

I have ridden ar6's at center, -1, -2.5, and -5.  The best position i found for all mountain and park use is -2.5, but for pure park i set them -1.

I got mine mounted -2 and they seem great.  Got to ski them the first time two days ago.
  Don't mount center.  Even Armadas team that is on PCs doesn't mount them center.  Tanner's mount is apparently -1.5 and he is the or one of the most forward.  Even if you ski switch, I would say -2 to -2.5 would be best.

  Also, people don't put into their thoughts that smaller boot size, smaller ski size in the same model, etc etc makes a difference in favored mounts.  I just gave you what I think is best in a 181, so 171 or less may be different.  Just don't mount center.

^my bad, that was for Pipe Cleaners.  I am going to bet that AR6s will be similar, though.

My friend has his at center with the same bindings and he loves them.  I personally will only mount center and forward.  Except on my pow skis I am going recommended which is 2 back.  There are alot of good suggestions in here backed up so go with what you think sounds good.

Why would you ever mount past center?  Even for switch skiing it doesn't make sense-it screws up swing weight, tails already weigh more than tips(from being stiffer/thicker) and heel pieces weigh much more than toes.  Not to mention fucks up carving badly.  Your friend may love the skis because they are good skis, but has he ever skied them back from center?  Somebody a few posts up had played with the mount alot and said they liked -2.5 best.  I am pretty sure that if Tanner Hall, and all of Armadas (at least big) park guys ski at least -1.5 there is a good reason..

I knew this was coming, and I knew it was coming from you.  It's personal preference and I hate the feel of skis mounted behind center.  I have not tried forward yet, but all the pros sound good to me.  And it would not mess up the swing weight any more than mounting back would.  Mounting back would mess the swing weight up more than mounting forward because your heels are stronger than the tip of your foot which has to fight the force of more ski in front if mounted back.  And I said that the post with all the location's that were tried was good and that he should mount where he thinks is best.  And binding weight will have no effect on swing weight because it is so close to your foot.  the only thing binding weight effects is the force required to pick up the ski in a vertical direction.

haha fair enough.  Maby some Marker Schizos would be a good idea for you.  It would be good to here if the forward mount still carves well.

i have my 2008's 181 mounted +2 from core center and they are amazing, that is park status though.

2.5 back will be a lot.

I know Armada suggests that you mount their skis -1 from center and so far that's
worked great for me. I used to have trouble makers mounted -2.5 and it was really noticeable
that the tips were bigger. The only thing with mounting skis center or really close to center is that you have to sit back further when you're in deeper snow.

What are you talking about?  Armada puts -5 as reco. and -2.5 as the upward reco. mount on PC/AR6/Thall

I mounted mine -2cm back. You shouldnt mount these dead center cuz they are not symmetrical.

With that logic, you should only mount recommended because that is where the thinnest part of the sidecut is.

well all the kids i ski with  have theirs center mounted and they just need to lean back a lil to do pow. im probably gonna get center mount

I skied them for 2 solid years, and i went dead center.  It was a great choice, and i skied about 40 percent park, 60 percent all mountain.  Go dead center, and stop making so many of the same threads.

yep, however with AR6/PC(09s anyways) the flex still works fine anywhere from -5(reco.) to center(DON'T MOUNT CENTER, JUST SAYING).  I have my 181 PCs mounted -2, and they seem great to me.  I wouldn't want any more forward, I think -2 or -2.5 is best for PCs/AR6s.  I had my chronics mounted forward for park and the flex felt so fucked up since it was designed around the mount.

I feel like this thread is very repeated, however the answer from the majority of people is always -2 or -2.5 or -3(from people who have skied multiple mounts).  People enjoy them center, but that doesn't mean it is the best mount.  Thall skis -1.5 PCs, and i think he is the most forward of Armadas team(could be wrong though).
