so my friend has a Compaq Presario V6000 and the screen is broken how can I force it to display on an external monitor from boot up without being able to see anything on the built in monitor? +K for help
If the external display key doesn't work, you could do it blindly via keyboard commands in display properties. Work next to a computer with a working monitor so you can map out the keyboard commands for the comp with the dead monitor. For instance, this just worked on my computer: Right click (on the desktop), up-arrow, enter, shift+tab, right-arrow four times, tab, down-arrow, tab four times, spacebar, enter.
just wondering, how does your friend like that laptop? I'm about to purchase a laptop from the Compaq Presario series and I am just wondering how he likes it.
turns out it wasnt just the screen, after further test we found the motherboard is fucked, now he just has to get an esata cord to copy his 90 gigs of music!
function and f4, or f5, or f7..... look at his keyboard for a blue thing that has like two pictures of screens on it, then press function and that button once or twice.
