Dammit!

The Panasonic service center I sent my camera to tells me that it'll cost $920 to fix my LCD screen, when I had thought it wouldn't be more than $400.

I can't afford that :(

I'm pissed as shit!  That's only $500 less than I paid for the camera!

FUCKKKK!

Go on Craigslist find someone who broke their camera buy it for cheap and swap screens yourself I did that with my laptop at least

I had assumed that since there was no real damage to the LCD itself, just a crack on the swivel thingy that attaches it to the body, that it would just require some wiring adjustments...

Have them send it back and do it yourself. I fixed my vx1k in about 20 minutes.

I miss it though.  Having all the displays right there was so easy...and navigating scene files with the viewfinder sucks.

I only use the view finder, the only time i ever open up the LCD is to switch my shutter speeds or the rare occasion i need to switch up audio inputs or need to adjust something else random that is blocked by it.

Word.  I could get used to it...

On a side note, I never formatted my viewfinder because I always thought I would get the LCD fixed...right now it only displays battery life and the paused/recording symbol.  Do you know how I go about displaying the other stuff (tape remaining, timecode, etc)?  I can't remember how, although I kinda remember trying and not being able to do it...I feel like I should know though.
