A few years back i started listening, Im from ny so i never gave it a chance till a friend moved back from Va and would never turn it off.  now its all i listen to, i ask people to give it a shot, at least a chance.  Its just like rock with southern accents and better stories

This is true. I used to have to take long road trips for work...On the road up to 8 hours a day....and in some places, the  only radio stations I would get were country...so - I tuned in, and before I knew it, I was diggin it...and here's why....The lyrics to country music are killer. They all tell a wicked story. It's like listening to a book on tape, good stories, and no - they aren't about the x taking the dog and the truck. Some of the lyrics are a little more like..."hold my beer while I kiss your girlfriend...etc." Shits good.

it does get old cause the radio plays the same songs over and over agian.  Thats why i make a few good cd's for a road trip

Most of the stuff from the '80s forward is more pop- or southern rock-oriented.  I like the classic stuff, like old outlaw country and that kind of thing.  It's a shame more people don't give the whole genre more credit.

My manager at work(pizza hut) incessantly listens to country and it gets so old after like the first hour. But if its what you like i wont bash you for it, I listen to some weird music myself.

Holy fucking noobs and their love of country. I'm a folk and western man myself, but I CANNOT believe you think Rascall Flatts, Tim McGraw and Kieth Urban constitutes quality music. Seriously. I hate living in a country where its once-great cultural milestone known as Country has degraded from Cowboys, Indians, Pioneering and living hard into Flat bed trucks, beer and Sister lovin'. We went from Johnny Cash and Hank Williams into Taylor Swift. It almost makes me wanna cry.

Love Zac Brown Band...and some country/folk like Blitzen Trapper, and some more mainstream like George Strait and Dierks Bentley. The whole genre gets a bad rap, but there is some good stuff if you have an open mind, but its not for everybody. And then of course there is Highwaymen, Cash, and Willie.

I've never been a country fan, I just don't like the good or the bad country.  I won't bash you for it though, it's your opinion.  However, the hip hop I listen to is not about fucking bitches and getting money or selling so much weed and then shooting n*****.  I like hip hop that is a little more relaxing, tells a good story and isn't all about fucking bitches.  DL Incognito is a good example of one of those artists.  Trust me, I hate Lil' Wayne more than I do country.  I feel ya' on the shitty hip hop.

DL really is not that great of an example. He's ok, but he's overrated.

Country music is ok. I like country rock, but not the rascal flatts bs on the radio. I liked Lynyrd Skynyrd and some of Alabama's stuff. I don't really like Johnny Cash all that music, sorry guys...I know he was really influential and I respect his music but I can't stand listening to it. I can't say I know too many artists from back in the day but I listen to some of my dad's old country albums. Decent stuff.

Oh, and whoever said that Jimmy Buffet was better before Margaritaville, I disagree. The island music is what made him who he is today. Some of his original stuff is very good, but I wouldn't say the majority of it is. At least not to my ears.

Gary Allen is the shit...not into most country but some of the artists are crazy good live...And I saw someone up above who said that Brad Paisley sucked...he is one of the most amazing guitar players to have ever lived and this is coming from reps of all genres, yes some of his lyrics are quirky but that's what his crowd is into, jst listen to you'll never leave harlen alive (I think thats the name).
