Get this camera on a skier!

doubt if any of you have heard of this company even though there 14 years in the making there sick though and if you use google street view you have used there product already. The company is called Immersive Media and it's a camera company out of Calgary Alberta. They are the leading provider for 360 degree cameras right now. If you don't understand it's a geodesic sphere with 11 lenses on it that captures a high resolution 360 degree view that is stitched together. Red Bull has already used it on surfers and base jumpers but I think they should put it on seth morrison or one of shanes buddys who ski-bases. would turn out crazy...

if you guys haven't noticed you can click and drag the video to where you want, that way you can utilize the 360 degree feature

I saw some guy up at Hood riding around with one of these but he wasn't filming skiers or anything, pretty sure he was just doing scenic shots.

ok.. now stick with me here.. i'm imagining all the editing possibilities...  my first idea would be something like at 0:12 but instead of just watching the knives, imagine it rotating 180 degrees and finishing the clip from behind.. SO LEGIT

my friend's dad is one of the directors of that company! they've taken them skiing before, when they were testing it out and stuff (before google streetview was around) they had a guy ski all over mt. bachelor with it.

that is pretty sick but I cant see the point of this happening. skiing videos are generally on dvd's, not interactive web media players. It wouldnt work because you need the interactive player to use the option and frankly poorboys and level one for example, dont realy have much interest in online videos.

Agreed, it would be sick for edits online and such but it would be just like every other camera on DVD.  One day a tv where you can do this will come out and it will be crazy.

I believe this same company came to Heavenly mtn. this year as well. We were takin runs threw the park with about 20 skiers an the guy was in the middle with this crazy camera. He said he had over 20 cameras or so on his one contraption. with a full 360 view .I could only imagine how the shots came out. Havnt seen the footy but heard looks crazy. I promise you it will change filiming with any action sport to come. Its bad ass as all helll
