How is Ohio Dreams for advanced training?

Thinking about Ohio Dreams for some advanced training on the water ramps?  I think some of you guys/gals have been there.  Whats up?

Define advanced training. Although Ohio Dreams is super sick and I'm sure they can accommodate you.

Well, Chris Laker sometimes trains there. I would say that is pretty advanced.

Yeah, it has what you need to get super techy, without the consequences of snow. You should really check it out because it will help you get stuff dialed in, so you can take it to snow.

It's a great place to "train" if you are like 13 and your parents send you there for a week.  For the rest of us it's 2 days in August on a water ramp with broken jets and no lifeguard.

yeah whats going on with that this year.... are there open days in which people can go up there for just a one day water ramp sesh?

Not salty at all... salty would imply that I would like to spend a week there.  I'm a few years passed the stage of going to a "summer camp".


That was just my impression based off of last summer.  The place has amazing potential it's just hard to take seriously.  Lack of lifeguards, people drinking beer out of glass bottles at the pool, no organization what so ever.  I've also been to just about every other water ramping spot aside from QC so I feel like my opinion is well founded.

With the proper management and marketing that place could really be headed in the direction of providing "advanced training".  Until then have fun and hope that no one accidentally lands on top of you at the water ramps.

wow man...wow a little uncalled for

but anyways to answer your question the Dreams is a great place for you to go to work on anything and everything from learning your first 3 to perfecting your dub flips 2 sick sick skateparks...foam pit...water ramps...the big jump has an extension on the drop now so you can go super big..( down there last week tried dub back and it came around fine didn't throw it suuper hard either)

They added more bike trails i believe...wood and i walked them the other day....soo legit

Plan is to focus on right side spins and if your right about the big jump then some dub corks as well.

so after being down there for the past few days...this place is 100% different than what you had described

when water ramping...numerous lifeguards on hand....no alcohol on the whole premises

Everything is very very organized...the counselors make sure everything is ran smoothly and accordingly to schedule....and you've been to every water ramp spot out there besides quebec? ...hmm doubt it

Its awesome for advanced training btw....while down there the past couple days (not to claim but to prove a point) I learned kang flips, double corks, and many right side tricks into the foam pit...and have already taken all of these tricks besides dub cork into the water ( which i will be attempting hopefully on thursday)

anyways the past few days have been very progressive for me and many others ...today we built a 2 foot extension onto the big ramp to make tricks veryyy floatty...oh and nobody gets landed on ya dumb fuck( no disrespect =]

So whether you're learning your first back flip or going for your first dub flip...this place is legit!

hmmm im thinking of going out there soon. i leave for austria in 11 days so ive got to soon.

and also the place is sick, ive gone there since theyve opened which is only a few years ago. since then they've progressed so much. its a great environment to not have to worry about a ton of people to wait in line and everyone is real chill. anyways....

stevee are you guys going on saturday?

you can't go on saturdays till the last weekend in august and first weekend in sept.

Cool to see they have made some improvements over what was going on when I was there last August...  If it has gotten that much better I would even consider going to one of the open days at the end of summer.


And yes- I've done A LOT of traveling.  I can speak firsthand how it compares to Whistler, Steamboat, Park City, and Lake Placid (what I would consider most other ramps in NA).

I'm not trying to be an asshole... the person asked how the place was for advanced training and I shared my opinion on it.

i am leaving for austria on the 10th of august for the whole year so i dont know. ive got to call chris tomorrow and see what he says, but what about the week? can i ramp during the week, i live in mansfield so its not far

im at ohio dreams now learning all kinds of new stuffand having fun with friends. It super legit here and definetly does provide "advanced training" with the ramps and foam pit. We just added an extension to the ramp that boosts you to the moon! You should definetly check it out if you can.

Ohio Dreams is definitely legit for advanced training. This is my second summer working there as a counselor/ski instructor and if you are willing to put in the work to improve, we have the the facilities and coaches to make that possible. This past week was really the first session this year where we had a good group of skiers, and the ramps went off. Jackie Kling (14yo girl in Jib Academy), Nick Goepper, Heff, myself, and a few others sessioned the ramps all week and everyone improved a ton. Tricks learned included double backs, double fronts, kangaroos, double cork 10's and 12's, misty 7's, rodeo 9's, unnatural corks, unnatural rodeos, and more. Plus if you rollerblade, you can learn tricks into the foampit in the skatepark and then take them to the ramps. One day during the past week, Goepper decided to learn kangaroos, dub corks, and switch dub rodeos all both ways in about an hour going into the foam. We wanted to have a rail setup similar to the DNA Tour and a flybed tramp for this summer, but we ran out of money and time. However, plans are already being made for next summer to have both of these at camp.

This brings me to another point, Ohio Dreams is a CAMP. While we have had day sessions in the past, our main focus is on summer camp. We will be having a few day sessions on the weekends once camp is over for the year, however this will only be for people who 18+. Keep an eye on the websitehttp://www.ohiodreams.com for dates and times of these session, info will be posted soon. If you are under 18 and want to hit the ramps, you need to sign up for camp. We are currently running a week 10 (Aug. 16-23) "Back To School" special for only $450. If anyone has any other questions feel free to shoot me a PM.

hey heff,  has the bubbler in the pool been working pretty well this summer? the one time i was there last summer it was kinda hit and miss. it was one of the open days in sept.

ya man it's been pretty consistent ,once in awhile it won't hit for a few times but usually fires back up in no time...doesn't matter if your nick goepper though...kid decided he likes doing kang flips and stomping on his feet with no bubblez nooo big deal

Why do you have to be 18 for the open sessions?  i really want to ride to see if im going to sign up next year.  if we bring out parent/gaurdian and they stay can we?  UGG!!!  this makes me madd

could've went last year or the year before for open sessions...shoulda just signed up for camp...if you're looking to learn shit there is no question if you should sign up...definately should...we had cody ling..kid from minnesota who filmed with rage this year...come down for a week sesh learned dubs and way more stuff and said its definately worth it.

ask any one of the kids that went along with me it is soooooo worth it. you learn so much and its sooo fun hands down best thing in ohio.definitely needs to be checked out by all skiers.

Heff i saw that you and rudolph among others were up there during the summer...i thought the summer was reseverved for everyone 18 and under. Basically my question is can i go up during the summer whenever i want and not sign up for a camp, ill be 18 this time next year?

PS ive emailed chris and have yet to get a response from him after nearly a month.

Brendan trieb is a coach/councelor there
wood helped out a lot there for free and is good friends with chris
i'm good friends with chris and fortunate enough to ride for him so he lets me come ride

they have a session (week 10) which is for 18 and over
