I think so.  Peter Jackson?  It will obviously be epic.  The trailer gives me goosebumps it looks so surreal, yet I think it's mostly an action movie.  Who else is uber stoked

dood im even more excited than you guys. im South African. and it feels fucking awesome that i get to see a movie with actors that speaka my language! i dunno. just the familiar accent stkes me out. that and i fucking love alienz.

Not about aliens. Satire for apartheid oppression in South Africa using aliens. Still looks good, but more for the reasoning behind it and not because its about aliens on earth.

It looks like a really fresh idea for a movie.  Peter Jackson aced Lord of the Rings, so I think this should pretty awesome.  could be a bust, but I'm thinking it will be dope

Thirty years ago, aliens made first contact with Earth. Humans waited for the hostile attack, or the giant advances in technology. Neither came. Instead, the aliens were refugees, the last survivors of their home world. The creatures were set up in a makeshift home in South Africa's District 9 as the world's nations argued over what to do with them. Now, patience over the alien situation has run out. Control over the aliens has been contracted out to Multi-National United (MNU), a private company uninterested in the aliens' welfare - they will receive tremendous profits if they can make the aliens' awesome weaponry work. So far, they have failed; activation of the weaponry requires alien DNA. The tension between the aliens and the humans comes to a head when an MNU field operative, Wikus van der Merwe (Sharlto Copley), contracts a mysterious virus that begins changing his DNA. Wikus quickly becomes the most hunted man in the world, as well as the most valuable - he is the key to unlocking the secrets of alien technology. Ostracized and friendless, there is only one place left for him to hide: District 9.

Is this from a reliable source? Because I can see how you would make that connection, but the trailers and plot don't really remind me of the apartheid oppression in South Africa.

It is getting killer reviews. I haven't smoked in almost 6 months but this might be a reason to. Stoked.


I also hope they are able to restart the Halo project and have Jackson direct.

Saw the movie tonight at a screening. [/claim]

Great film that was a lot more funny than expected as long as you dont take it seriously which is evident from the beginning. The high kill/splatter count never got old and made for very entertaining moments throughout. Aside from a slow middle part, dumb-downed subtitles, and some Disney-esque scenes, the film flowed well without dragging on. Felt like what a summer blockbuster should be - go see it.

If it means anything, I'm farthest thing from being a fan of alien and sci-fi stuff, but this movie was very entertaining and will probably go see it again in the theaters.

I just got back from it, and don't really know what to think. I wasn't a fan of the shaky ass filming and was confused as shit as to if there was even a plot for the first half of the movie, but the ending was pretty good.

yah, it was fuckin awesome, just got back...sooooo fucking intense...

and we got there super early cause i live in a big city so we knew the theater would fill up quick...did anyone else catch the thing about Where the Wild Things Are? im even more stoked than before about that movie...
