That thing looked like it was about to fall apart. We're talking real bipedal walking motion here, the ability to move very fast over extremely rough terrain, using gyroscopic stabilizers for balance and recovery. We have the technology in the civilian sector, why the hell hasnt the military already capitalized and utilized such an advantageous idea?

probably money. research and design costs for that would be huge.  dont know man. i think it would be awesome if that sort of thing was made outside of the movies and games, but i doubt its gonna happen soon.

well if you've seen the big-dog robot, they are working on quadrapeds that have function like that.  bi-peds are just not as stable / fast at the moment.

a) because it has knees. a rocket, or maybe even concentrated heavy caliber gunfire could take it out at the knees in two seconds. it's also easier to trip a bipedal walking tank than it is to trip a modern tank.
b) because the U.S. can't afford to build one, there are negative amounts of money in the budget.

that was when they thought they were going to win a war. now that they've spent billions of dollars and lost american lives, and gained nothing from it...maybe it's time to figure out how they're going to get that money back.

Comparing the size, weight, and technology of a mech to an F-22 Raptor, I'd assume a mech would cost between 100 to 150 million dollars to make. But an F-22 has superior speed, agility, surveillance capabilities, and cargo space. The mech's biggest advantage is its durability, but military conflicts are very rarely won by having superior armor. When armor is necessary in a conflict, the military has tanks, which cost a mere 4 to 5 million dollars. The way I see it, they're just not cost effective until someone designs a mech that can fly.
