Jons blog will never be the same! :/

first and foremost let me start out by saying taht i have followed jons blog from day one and have loved it. easy to veiw, and his most recent text blog has been great! great up until recently jon decided to move his blog to some fancy site stureplan.se the blog just dosnt have the same feel, and in my opionon is not as user friendly as the old one!
i understand it was to get more readers, but its skiing! skier go there to read about jons life and how things work!
i can only hope that one day he will move it back to the old site!

Yea the new blog is much harder to read and he dosent even have it linked correctly from his last blog.

The interesting thing about this is that when we rebuildt my website half a year ago, we had the same comments, people hated the new design and wanted the old site back....

I think most people just dont like change...

The blog is the same, the only difference is that its being updated twice or more per day, it might be about champagne this week, but it will be all about skiing very soon...

Hop you can get used to the new layout and I hope you like it!

jon i think summer updates are great! who cares if its less skiing and more partying...its your life and your showing it to everyone! its sick!

The website never worked right on IE or Firefox for me.

I haven't seen any of the blog posts in a long while, and hearing "it might be about champagne this week" dosent make me want to.  With the money and the backing you have it would be nice to hear "Jon goes skiing with a bunch of kids and gives out free shit" or "Jon has an event that isn't the best pros hitting the same jump for 1,540 weeks".  This is also coming from a person who hasn't seen the blog in 5 months or so, so maybe you are doing things like this and I'm just dumb.

It's a blog, it's about shit Jon happens to be doing in his life. Criticizing blog content is kind of like telling someone they should be leading a different lifestyle.

I think he is kind of. I mean, Jon has tons of money, and he moves his blog to get more, he seems like nothing more than a business man sometimes. To me thats pretty uncool, what Andy is sayin as far as i can see is that maybe it would be cooler if he gave more back to the kids that buy his skis and pro models and keep the sponsorshp money flowing.

Are you kidding? Jon gives a ridiculous amount to this sport. He sponsors AND runs multiple competitions (JOSS, outisde of winter X, might be the biggest thing in skiing right now), he innovates (I think the explosion of the double makes that clear), he basically carries a major ski company on his back, he does tons of public appearances and by all accounts he's just generally a really good guy. He could hardly give more time and effort to the sport, and I think he gives more back than most people who you WOULDN'T call "businessmen". Which isn't uncool at all, and it's pretty damn naive for you to say so. The more people who are able to make skiing into an industry you can make a living in, the better. You'll realize that when you're not living off your parents anymore.

Couldnt agree more, you cant be a park rat all your life. At some point you have to forge a long term career for yourself. As much as we all love skiing, there are other and more important things in life.

His blog is his blog. The point of them is to show the persons life, and Jons does just that. I just would like to see one the largest names in the sport put on more things like online contests, free give aways, small non-pro events, and just doing more grass roots stuff. Jon was one of my favorite skiers, and he has been doing alot for skiing but it would be sick to see him do more stuff for the average skier.

At the end of the day it's bringing more money and popularity to the sport- half full. Although i dislike the over the top (flashy)- cheesy gossip website his blog seems to now be posted on. Will he have video updates there as well, or keeping that on his own site?

Wow your really passionate about your Jon Olsson! I never meant to rile you up to the point where you mock me personally and not just my point of view. Thats just mean. =( You clearly have the businessman state of mind yourself and I'm not going to argue with you about it cos you'll win but it wont change the way i feel.
I just meant to show that although Jons comps and things are great to watch an may bring out side spectators into our industry and he does something for the up and comers of sweden I just think he is becoming too money orentated and he doesn't seem to do a lot purely for the love of the sport anymore.(please dont get on at me for saying he doesn't love the sport cos thats not what i'm trying to say) I think you may have miss understood me, because I never meant imply that Jon does nothing for the kids or the sport, just that when he does it seems like its cos he has to or cos it will make him more popular and so more money.
Yes you may say some more shit about me living with my parents and having to pay my own way or call me park rat or what ever but at this point in my life I can't see me not being so passionate abut skiing that I want to spend every penny i can spare on enjoying myself doing it, if was in the position to I would really like to help others to enjoy it too, I truley hope that money is never the major purpose of my life because at the moment it is skiing and i like it.

Not particularly, I don't know Jon personally, in fact I've never even met him. I just am amazed sometimes at the way people look at pro skiers on here these days, they are looked at so objectively by so many of you guys that it's almost like you see them as tropes (ie businessman) rather than as people. But this is freeskiing, it's always been just good people. It was so small when it started that there was no other possibility. I don't get into the middle of the industry or anything but if there's one thing I know it's that whatever you see in movies or blog posts or edits everyone's pretty down to earth and they have more or less the same motivations a normal person is going to have. Your attempt to impute motives like "it's too much about the money" to Jon just sounded to me like drawing assumptions on what Brad Pitt is like as a person from reading tabloids and watching Entertainment Tonight.

I don't want to argue. I find it difficult sometimes to express the way certain actions make me feel and to seperate that feeling to how i feel abut the person on a whole. I never meant to say that jon was anything more or less than a person or that i disrespect him.
