Help me find my music!!
So I went to the Apple Store so they could fix some issues on my Macbook. Well, the dude fixed what I needed and I guess updated everything on my computer. So I get home and hit iTunes so I can listen to some music. It's ALL gone. Nothing in my iTunes, nothing in my music folders. I am pissed. I call Apple Care and I search around my computer for my music with the dude, he can't find shit. Tells me to report a problem on iTunes. I do. Nothing. Three days later I call again and this motherfucker tells me he put on everything he can. 98 songs. So after three years of downloading shit and syncing CDs to my iTunes library, it's all gone.. My backup expired last year too so that is all lost. Maybe I'm the idiot in all this but I am extremely pissed off.
So if you computer people on NS think you're smarter than these assholes on the other line of Apple Care, throw in some ideas of where to look, because the Genius bar (you know, on the side of iTunes) still says that I have stuff that I've got off other programs/CDs not iTunes.
Any help would be lovely.
i am bumping this because now slowly everything is disappearing.. all my pictures are gone and now all my documents have disappeared.. my resume, all my work from the last two years at school.. everything..
i'm pretty much not surprised at this point and giving up, so this is a last time bump to see if anyone got suggestions..
have you checked in between the cracks in the couch? i always loose shit down there.
thats what you get charlie! you get fork stabbed!
"Maybe I'm the idiot in all this"
This. Bringing your computer in for service without multiple current back-ups is laughable. How did your back-ups "expire". Were you just doing online back-up or something? Either way this is 98% your fault. If you went into more detail about why the guy did to your comp you may be able to find the music. But if you can't it is lame to blame the tech guy who is just doing his job.
Plus if you read the form you signed/read before you handed your computer in it CLEARLY states they aren't responsible for lost data and your computer should be backed up.

it was for external problems (all i was in need of is some external repairs with the keyboard and disk drive and that crap) so i wasnt even planning on them dealing with things on my computer. all i saw him do was turn it on and did some shit to all the windows popping up on my screen because of the new wireless network it found and all that. then he went on to do what he needed to do that had nothing to do with the actual stuff on my computer.
and i'm not blaming him for losing anything, i know he didnt purposefully decide to delete everything on my computer. the original post is written out of anger, and if you read through all my non-classy swearing rant i am just looking for suggestions of elsewhere to look because the applecare guy was just taking me through the obvious things i should look through.
