It is damn-near horrifying to think about.

The thing is though, is that we can't even get our own shit straight in America, so how should anyone expect more than a little e-sympathy from someone like me?

On the grand scale of things, people who care a lot about this, the people like me, and the total assholes are all helping the same amount.

Shit sucks.

We cant live the way we do without sacrifice. The way the world works right now is not the right way to live. It will never work. You are incredibly self centered and inconsiderate.
Granted the population of the world needs to decline drastically if we are going to make strides in improving people's quality of life, but to think that we have some god-given right to live the way we live whilst billions of people suffer for our gain is pathetic.

Not much more that i can really do in my current position apart from try to spread awareness and tell my friends about certain movies to watch and books to read. Its not something one person can do. The entire mentality of the majority of the human race needs to change.

yeah those stats are fucked up but really those pictures didnt show anything. showed a shanty and a bunch of normal shit that'd happen when mining... i mean nothing shocking. you could take those at any mining/construction job. where were the pictures claiming a layer of dust covering the roads into the city? or the skyline shots of this immense pollution filled fog? those would have been legit. not some bullshit dust caused by crushing stone, or piles of rock.

That's the shame in it all.

I am not being a total dick, but I hate seeing shit like this.

As humans, it is our pride and privilege to overcome obstacles, but seeing something like this that is blocked by so many other factors is just frustrating.

I feel like I'm too small a part to do shit about it, so I ignore it.  I can't put it any other way, I pretty much ignore it.  It is like trying to explain the origin of life;I can't so I won't.

I am in Tianjin China right now. Its about a 2 hour bus ride south east of beijing. This shows the smog pretty well. Its sad to imagine how amazing both these pictures would be without all the smogClick for larger imageClick for larger image

i dont get you guys who honestly dont think this will ever effect you.  The enviornment is getting all fucked up and Gaia is pissed.  Look up easter island, thats what our world is comming to.

I just finished a book about China called Out of Mao's Shadow about how messed up the government is there and what some people are doing to change it. Most of the time they are beaten, jailed, or sent to work camps. Its fascinating, read up.
