Elliott Smith

I'm sure a lot of NS has heard of Elliott Smith before. He was a brilliant artist who committed suicide about 6 years back. I love his music and figured I'd share some of it with the rest of NS. Take a few minutes or so and listen to an album of his. They're some of the most soothing yet painful albums I've ever heard. His music can't help but speak to everyone in it's own unique way.

Just watched Paranoid Park. A short Gus Van Sant film about a skateboard kid surrounded by a murder. It has two great Elliott Smith songs. Check it out if you've got the time. It's an indie so don't watch it unless you're in to that stuff.

I won't lie, I was hesitant to download these, as I'd never heard of him before.  I took a few seconds to YouTube him and just finished listening to a few of his songs; this is actually quite good!  Great thread man, good recommendation, thank you :)

Elliott was definitely an amazing musician, even with all the pain in his music it still cheers me up when i am down.  I have been listening to his music for about 5 or 6 years now, first song i heard was 'Angeles' and it is still my favorite Elliott Smith song, quite possibly my favorite song ever.  I just downloaded some of his music i did not even know existed, I found a 27 disc discography on pirate bay, there is like 15 live albums and rarities seeing that he only released like 10 studio albums including LPs.  I was so stoked to find that.

his music is tough. its brilliant, i listen to it alot. but theres a lot of sadness and pain which can be discouraging depeding on your mood.
"the biggest lie," will literally almost bring me to tears everytime i listen to it.

There's still debate on whether or not he killed himself. There is a lot of circumstantial evidence incriminating his girlfriend but no charges were filed. Like who stabs themself in the heart TWICE?

He was an outstanding musician and i love his music

A few of my favorites from an amazing artist whose time came far too soon.

I very much agree about his girlfriend and him supposedly stabbing himself twice in the heart.  It's hard to believe.
