Camera/ computer question
i got a new camera recently and i need a firewire to connect to my comp. but i don't have the correct 4 or 6 pin slot on the back of my computer (an older dell) but i do have an external hard drive with a 6 pin slot, could i connect my cam to the external hard drive and import footage?
welll im not sure about what your asking, but i know people that dont have a firewire port in thier laptop and buy a seperate firewire port that goes into your regular usb connection area...sorry for the confusing post, i wasnt really sure how to word it...do u get what i just said?
^ ya sort of, ill go to the store soon and see if they have somthing like that
There is no such thing as a firewire port that you can plug into your USB.
I am not sure what the original question is, but no, you can't plug your camera into the hard drive. If your computer doesn't have firewire, you need to get a firewire port. If your computer has a different type of firewire port than your camera/cable, then you just need to get an adapter plug.
yeah i wasnt really sure 100% on what i was talking about, my cousin tried to explain to me, but i was a little confused. i know now tht he uses an adapter plug also
you can buy a PCMCIA card which plugs into the PCMCIA port on the side of yoru laptop. that little tabby thing you push and a spring loaded slider comes out. theyre like 15$. thats what i have and it has 2 firewire ports.
but i think what your asking MIGHT be feasible. if i understand you want to plug your harddrive into your computer via USB, then plug the camera into the firewire port on teh HD and cap that way?
could work. go for it.
Right As Rain Films
go buy a firewire port. i got mine with a cable for thirty bucks and installed it when i was like 14. its not hard.
