alright, so i live in the northeast. i ski gore mountain, which has almost nothing worth skiing except trees. i make a few trips a year to mad river and jay. i keep a quiver of 4 pairs of skis (2 are for racing and 1 are beater twins. i dont ski park.) the fourth pair is a specialty pow ski which i manage to get like 12 days a year on. im trying to make a decision about the pow skis for next year.
right now i have rossi bandit b4's, 178. they are very light (foam core) and easy to throw around in the trees. anything aside from fresh pow they chatter like crazy. they love bumps, as do i. this year i was fortunate enough to ski waist deep pow on more than one occasion, and the b4's tended ride along the bottom third of the snow, but still gave the floating feeling. i do wish they were fatter though.
so after doing some research, i came across the icelantic nomad. theyre hailed as a light, versatile tree ski. i know they have a history of being really short, but id be getting the 181s. i want to hear from anybody who has skied the nomads, especially people who have also skied b4s (though i bet those people are scarce).
if you feel like rating them out of 10, give me numbers in these categories:
flex (10=stiff, 1=noodle)
flotation (10=float, 1=sink)
weight and flex combined- whether they are quick to maneuver (10=snappy, 1=damp and heavy)
overall handling in bumps and trees (10=great, 1=shitty)
thanks in advance
