I am sooo sick of people going around the park acting sooo cooool and badass  that their not wearint a helmet. Youre not cool youre just stupid. In the beginning my parents made me wear a helmet but now im glad i did because it saved my life so many times i would be dead if I did not have it on. Helmets look so much cooler too. I think people who dont wear helmets are stupid. they think their cool but their just not. If you take a bad fall without a helmet you can die easily.

NS is awesome, but this is the one thing that kind of bugs me.  Obviously thread creator = Alias.  Right now on ski gabber there are at least 2 threads created by Aliases.  Sometimes they are created for max pwnage

Others are created by Karma Trolls.  I don't get why people don't just post the stuff under their real profile.  Contrversial stuff is what makes NS so great.  Even grabbing shit from someone when you post something stupid is fun. 

I'd like to see the Mods every once in awhile expose the Trolls that have like 15 different aliases.  They could just say gang_lifer_rpr aka "x", aka "y", aka "z" including their real profile.  I know the mods can do it, because they've posted when someone has a bunch of different aliases.  Bottom line is that it has to burn up resources on NS and evenutally make it butt slow, so they were all getting effed by the Karma Trolls. 

That's my rant.

i wear one, partially because it has a built-in headphone/mic set. i don't see any problem with other people not wearing one though, it's their choice to make. my dad has been skiing since he was a kid, he only started wearing a helmet a few years ago, after he fell into a tree well headfirst.

seriously i hate when all my friends moms and everyone always gives me talks about how i need to wear a helmet and how stupid i am because i dont. just let me do what i want to do i feel more uncomfortable with a helmet on which makes me ski worse and fall more

I'm going to wear mine because I fall more than I'd like to (which, in a perfect world, would be never). Sometimes it's stupid, sometimes it's hard, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Whatever you do is fine with me, but if you knock your noggin and are screwed for any length of time, you have no right to complain. When you don't wear a helmet, you have to take the "legitimate complaint do-rag" off as well.

I personally always wear a helmet and it has saved my life. I dont care if someone else doesnt wear one, its their choice. But i shouldnt be made fun of for wearing one cause its my personal choice to be safe, its like wearing a seatbelt. i just do it. i have skied without it a few times and it just feels weird to me. also people shouldnt be lookin up to pros and saying "so and so doesnt wear a helmet so im not". but if u choose not to wear a helmet fine its ur choice no one's stopping u. if u choice to wear one then wear it and dont stop wearing it just cause someone tells u not to. the bottom line is that its ur own personal choice.

i'd rather look like a lame duck and wear a lid than than be a REAL lame duck and be drinking out of a straw or blowing bubbles and shit... wear a lid so you don't dumb out.

plus there are so many peeps out there who just can't control their speed on the hill - one of those shitfaces crashed into me while i was crusing for the lift line - knocked me clean on the ground - hit my head hard on the bellend's snowboard - my R.E.D hifi lid has the ding and battle scars to show for it - so I not only lap the park/huck cliffs with my lid on, but also bomb the slopes with it on - cos you can always replace a broken helmet - but not a broken head.

I don't wear one because i never have, i find them off putting and make me feel less aware of everything around me while i ski with tunes full blast in both ears spraying people who wear them,

but more seriously a helmet doesnt really do much except for cuts and scratches after a certain speed of impact, which is very very low when you think about the speeds you travel,

so don't hate on people because there unsafe, unless you ski slower and don't ride park.

i know im feeding the trol, but most kids that are wearing helmets arent even wearing them correctly. they got em all cokeyed and hanging off their head, goggle gap steeze, all sorts of shit and that totally defeats the purpose of even putting a brain bucket on. as for me, was not raised on helmets, and dont wear one. more kids get all jacked up and think there invincible with a piece of plastic on their head, and get way more fucked up. done

please read this! a few days ago downhilling (mountainbiking) at winterpark, i had a sort of eye opening experience. it was one of the first runs of the year and we were biking a new trail. neither of us had full pads or propper downhill helmets, but we did have helmets on. i decided to film one shot to show people what the new trail is like. i got to the side of a feature and my friend went to hit it. something in his inrun went wrong and he lost all his speed. this video can show what happened better than i can tell. I slowed it down immensly, but it is still hard to see what happened.



tj hit the jump with not enough speed and endoed into the second bump. he leaned forward and the bike spun. he held on to the bike and it carried his head into a tree. then, he continued flipping and hit his head on a rock in a ditch below the feature.
that night in the hospital, the doctor said if he had not been wearing his helmet, he would have been dead or very seriously injured. all he sufferes from now is a bad concussion, cuts and bruises, and a sprained neck.
just a few hours before i left to go bike, i was talking with tim_wallace about how i only wore my helmet sometimes and never when skateboarding. well, after witnessing this, i think my mind has truly been changed. we thought it would just be a nice stroll through wp and we wouldnt need proective gear. we were wrong.

i hoped this could help with this helmet conflict but now i think i realize you really have to see something like this in person to change your mind.

and im pretty sure the reason people don't wear hats over helmets isnt because they think they're so cool, it's probably because they don't want to buy one/it's comfortable/they llike how it looks

also you said helmets look way cooler, thats your opinion

personally i wear a helmet, and like how helmets look, but this thread is stupid

i wear a helmet because it has saved me so many times and it just jives me the confidence to try new things knowing i wont hurt myself as easily. And everyone saying that hats are a lot more comfertable i agree but think about how comfertable they will be when you are sitting in a wheelchair. just think.
