Mopeds

Anyone have some suggestions on what a good brand for a moped is? I plan on buying one for getting around campus next year.  I want something that is reliable, fairly cheap, and not terribly slow.  I am looking at both new and used mopeds in my area, but have no idea what I'm looking for.

Yeah a lot of kids I know have them and they like never have to fill up... I really want it just for going to and from work this summer too.  Mopeds are becoming a lot more popular and they really aren't all that stupid looking anymore.

Kinda late, but Honda.  I go to MSU and TONS of people ride them,  I ride mine to and from work and to class most days.  I have to fill up about every other week.  I just filled up today for $2.86, but the best part is you can legally park at the bike racks so it's even better than driving cause you dont have to worrk about parking.
I'd say get a Ruckus or a Metropolitan.  theyre a little more expensive, but way more reliable and go in the 40 mph range and 80-100 mpg.  Get a used one if you can.  You can always find them on Craig's List for about $1000

you can find a reliable motorcycle for the same price, if not cheaper, than a moped, almost all of the time. why not get something that can actually go the speed limit, is arguably safer, and looks a hell of a lot better, without sacrificing too much in mileage.

Fuck getting a moped... Look in your local classifieds and find a Honda Trail 90 or Trail 110 they are the greatest vehicles ever created and you will have some serious swagger when you role into town on one... much better than a moped

I Have a honda ruckus. its soo sick! throw a boombox under the seat, bring an extra helmet to the party, getshitfaced and drive it cause it maxes out at 50km/hour haha. I use my lawnmowers gas cause its barely uses any fuel. I always rip home through trails and shit on they way home from wherever. You can park whereever you want, its faster around town than a car cause you an accelerate/decellerate super quiickly.
definitely get a scooter/moped

finally someone that understands.  I'm using a Honda Metro right now, but I'll get a ruckus eventually.
So much easier to get around.  If they catch you off the road just say youre on your way to park it.

I've owned both a gas scooter and a motorcycle. The scooter was only 36cc but it was a fucking blast. My motorcycle is 1200cc, it's fun too. But if you're just gonna cruise around campus get a scooter. You can go on bike paths, dip out on cops, screw around more without worrying about wrecking it or your life. Motorcycles really arn't that economical for commuting, tires wear out fast, there's other maintenance, insurance, registration.

"Moped" is a brand of motorized scooter. Another brand is Vespa. Like someone said though, Honda makes good ones.

Get a 125cc kymco.  Mine can go 70mph and i have never had a problem with it for 3 years now.  You can still park it anywhere becuase it looks like the 49cc

def get a ruckus! i would love to have one of those instead of my R6... it would be so much more practical, better gas, its practically impossible to get in trouble on. oh and they are cheap as shit to buy and insure, did i say mopeds are fun as hell to ride (even though you'll look like a gay)

you dont really look gay, people do laugh though, but your always having a good time, and girls always wanna double with you to the bar or wherever your going. you can take so many detours, and the best thing is seriously that getting places is rediculously easy. You NEVER even consider how much gas your using cause its so cheap, you dont have a huge cumbersome car to manouver and look around, you just put in the key and pc, i normally put  my helmet on while driving.

But yeah, cheap gas, fast mobility, independence, reliable, rarely fall apart, no tickets.

I also want to mention, to my experience most cope do not know the rules regarding scooters. I have been driving in the middle of the night with an L on the back on several occasions and cops didnt care. I dont think they care if i double either.

Anyways, get a scooter, you wont regret it.

Honda sprees are amazing, the yamaha version is the yamaha razz. I see them go for around $300 all the time. I have an 87 with around 9000 miles on it and it cruises just over 30.
