just read a review on ign and the guy said it worked well. he was playing burnout paradise and everything worked and did a great job. i believe itll work.

natal is like a dock that looks at you, and it has cameras. not sure of the logistics, but it probably has one thermal camera and maybe one or two others. they film you and then its converted into videogameland.

Everyone who's freaking out saying microsoft is dumb and that they're only trying to appeal to the casual audience needs to go back to 1st grade and learn how to read. It's not a new xbox, its an add on to your xbox, you will still have your precious shooter games and controllers. Stupid kids, microsoft is killing it with this new add on, so many people with xbox360s are retard little kids who want games like wii, well look at that microsoft did it. I see this being a great success for microsoft.

ya definately. with older people and sisters wanting wii's (i know my ma and sis did after they tried out wii fit and shit) this is the perfect solution because I already have a 360 so im sure theyd be down to buy it.

anyone wanna take a guess at pricing?

also, I wonder if the games will be commpatible with just a controller or if you will need to get off your ass.

i posted this in another thread to explain how it works and whats possible.

"Well the only limitation is what your body can do. After reading a bit more into it, it basically uses an infrared emitter and sensor to map a 3D image of your body, using a heat map to plot the Z axis (the closer you are the hotter it reads).

So the software creates a 3D wire frame model of a person with out any controller. Every movement is mapped to the model and the xbox can read it and use it to control a game. The great thing about this is almost every game is based on human movement or control, so everything is possible as in real life. Heres a simple example.

Say you want to have a FPS like halo or COD. You put your hands up like you're holding a gun to take it out. if you move your right hand down to your hip and back up it reloads (similar to how a real person would reload). To throw a grenade you use the left hand, bring it back and then throw it with the right power and angle. If you want to crouch, then you crouch. You aim by moving your imaginary gun, and the screen moves around. You walk forwards or whatever direction by placing one foot to the front, back or either side.

It can obviously be more complex or less depending on the game (that was a more complex example). If they can really track motion as well as the reviews and demos show, then this is going to be amazing, and the possibilities are literally endless for pretty much virtual reality."

nah, 46% of light from the sun is IR, and when you emit heat you're basically emitting IR radiation which is used to make a heat map. IR light is just a tad bit longer wavelength than visible light and completely harmless. Its the same thing they use in TV remotes
