Does anyone know anything about summer camps?

 Haha, yeah way to many of these lately but I have a specific question.  I am low level park skier and am looking at summer camps.  Coaching to help my progression is one of the most important things to me and haveing features that will make progressing as fast and easy as possible.  The big big features dont do much for me because of this as well.  COC or Momentum will cost between 400 and 700 more to go to than windells.  Sounds like a lot but i am already droping 2 G's before that so WTF.  Also off hill activites that are not skiing related are of little interest to me as I only care about progressing my skiing.  Anyone have advice for me on weighing this decision?

Does Windells have any tramps or off hill training stuff?

Any response saying "go to this camp _____  cause its the best" is not helpful at all as i see in many other threads.

Thanks and +K to anyone with some useful info or advise on the subject.

If you don't mind not being on snow check out Ohio Dreams (http://www.ohiodreams.com). Sick water ramps, a summer rail/box setup, and 2 olympic tramps. Granted you are not on snow you can learn tons of tricks on the tramps and ramps that you can take to snow as well as getting your rail sesh on. Also it is only $750 per session compared to Hood and Whistler. I am also a little biased considering I work there and have been a camper and love the place, but I do recommend you check it out.

^And like Momentum said, do your own research looking at the different websites and feel free to ask questions to former campers and camp representatives. No matter what camp you go to you will progress and have a great time. It's just a matter of finding what works best for you personally.

Well as far as i know CoC has the best park and has multiple lines of features from Xl to small im not sure if other camps have as many of the smaller features.

for beginer parks mhssc has the most things to learn on, went there last year and out of the 9 boxs and rails, two were a jump on all the others were a ride one, then for the jumps they werent big at all, the bigges maybe like 40-45 then went down to about 20

off hill, had some tramps, then a skate quarter pipe and thats it

price is cheapest from any camp and it kinda shows but the skiing and park it self is worth it

I got an idea based on your post.

Who do you look up to?  What I mean is after 4 years on here, there is probably a mid-level  pro whose personality you might best relate to, that just happens to be a coach at one of the summer camps?

Hit them up, chances are they are on here and you can ask/tell them exactly what you are looking for and see if that works for you?  Rather than leaving a pairing up to chance.

OR

 if that doesn't work call the camps and tell them what you want and see who they suggest for a coach and see if that makes sense.  I know that the folks at the COC office are very helpful and will be eager to advise you. I haven't had contact with Momentum, but I know Trennon and he is top shelf - doesn't get any better. He can help.  Windells?  I don't have any personal experience with them.

Hey Bud,

Sounds to me like Woodward at Copper is your best option. We are the least expensive of all of the summer on-snow/indoor camps this summer, but not for lack of quality that's for sure!

Our features are the safest, easiest and fastest way to learn new tricks and progress your skills. We have everything from a spring board gym floor, to 6 fly bed tramps, 3 massive foam pits, indoor jump to foam pit, rail garden, skate bowls etc etc... You can learn the fundamentals of each trick in a safer environment than hucking directly to snow, and once you have the trick dialed into the pit, you can move on to our airbag jump outside and finally to our low impact step-up or true table setup. We will also have lots of rails, boxes and hopefully a qp on snow all summer long. Here, check out the facility;

We are just finishing up our weekly sponsorship deals and will hopefully have a good choice of different guest pro's for coaches and as always our permanent Woodward coaching staff, which includes everyone from former Circue du soleil performers to former and current pro skiers/snowboarders.

Ha-ha, this is awesome, all of us camps are like the single guy at a bar trying to hook up with the few good looking girls.

if you want to take your park game to the next level, we can help you with that. Every park has novice to intermediate park features, thats a given, but what makes us unique is that we have lines of novice/intermediate lines of features so you can session one after the other. The forcus with our park is providing progressive park lines for beginner park riders, up to expert park riders, so you can learn a trick on a small feature and then work it up to progressivley larger features.

The coaching experience is very similar with all the camps, come with an idea of what you want to learn, your coach will ask you what it is you want to learn and after you tell him, will work with you to get everything dialed. The most important factor in being able to achieve your learning goals at camp, is to commit to trying new things in the park. It's easy to fall into the habit of only realy doing whats comfortable, but you won't learn anything. So you need to pucs your comfort zone a little and you will start getting results.

Whatever camp you decide, you'll have an amazing time. Just make sure you read every camps website (dating bio), check out all the photos and videos (are we really all young blondes with large... features?) and pick the right date, I mean camp, for you.

Well, Windell's would be pretty perfect for you. The park definitely offers a lot of options that aren't "big big features" it is a great place to progress for any level of skier, and there are a lot of coaches, all of whom are extremely helpful, you would learn a ton of new tricks, no doubt about it. And yes, Windells has an awesome Trampoline/ foam pit facility. The decision should be easy!!

So no one is really explaining much about off hill ski progressive activities. At Momentum you can do water ramps sessions after skiing almost every day, not to mention that there is a trampoline coach (and trampoline outside the hotel) available everyday after skiing as well. There are heaps of other activities available too, but if you're wanting to progress as much as possible then you can pretty much push your self everyday on and off the hill. And like someone mentioned above, its a good idea to have a chat with some of the coaches to get a good idea of what their skills can offer you. Either way you'll have an awesome summer!

I am doing Momentum freeride session 3 but I have never been. I am really excited for it though and I have talked with Sarah Burke and Colby West and they absolutely love it there. They both have given me some great and inspirational information. If you call into the camp too, they will answer your questions. They are so awesome there in letting you know what to expect, answering questions of concern, and getting back to you. I would seriously consider going to Momentum from all that has been said to me. I have been doing quite a bit of research so if you have any questions feel free to pm me. My choice was between Momentum and Windells for a while but to me, Momentum seems like an all around better learning experience. Windells seems like it focuses on a bunch of different things at once since there is so much to do there. I am going to ski and have fun and I don't want a ton of other distractions but it is all personal preference. When it comes down to it though, it is your decision. From what I hear, the campers are fantastic and are all super supportive at Momentum. I say do research on camps and try to narrow it down to two. But your summer will be sick regardless.

yes, i went to COC last summer, i have to admit, you have nothing on there park but your coaches blow away COC's.

High North!!!! Cheesburger vans and Szocs... Was so epic..

I guess my second choice is Momentum I really liked the setup they had when I was at HN.. Super fun features and really awesome coaches. Plus that wallride is pretty fuckin' sweet.

Hey, from my personal experiences whistler is definitely a great place to go. There's alot of different camps up there too, that all specialize in different things. If I were you, i'd look at all the websites listed on that and compare prices, compare the coaching, and compare what's included in the price etc.
