How are you guys going to compare a former president who served 13 years, and over 70 years ago to a guy whos been in there just about 13 weeks, in a much more modernized world... It's silly.
and what is with this recent, everyone hating on FDR? as if hes the culprit behind the depression (that honor actually goes to the previous 3 republican presidents for allowing the construction of an unstable, "lassaiz faire" economy).
Theres this whole discussion going on as if new deal spending prolongued the depression or something... and the subsequently insane spending during WW2 was this glorious thing that saved us...
WW2 was the largest spending spree the USA ever went on... and it was primarily to build weapons to kill Germans, Japanese, and Italian forces in order to stop their imperial interests. You guys are really telling me that the USA couldnt have just used that same tactic a bit more constructively, rather than destructively, and spent the same amount of money, resources and manpower on building infrastructure, housing, services, and perhaps just bulding a huge fuckin 10 foot thick barricade wall around the country, 20 miles out in the ocean to keep the Germans and the "Japs" out?
