so after  months and months of research and waiting, i finally bought a 2010 hyundai genesis coupe

wow the first 2 guys are strait bitches- the car retails for low 20's - how bout showin a guy some respect cause he got something that he likes that he has done a shitload of research on- jeez people are strait assholes- I think that  its sick- 306 hp v6- I wish they put their V8- one of the best engines on the market- Every mag that i read loves the var- its a 350z for hella cheap

nah, this has the infinity 10 speaker sound system.  Its pretty nice really, its got a 10" sub in the back and a nice center channel.

also, just to whoever was talking about the v6,  i got the 2.0T.  Its the turbo inline 4 cylinder.  Coming from an SRT-4 i know how valuble a stock turbo is haha,  AMS, buschur racing, AEM, HKS and more have been working on releasing parts for this since before it was out.


also, a little spark notes for those that dont know what it is, basically, its an affordable RWD sports coupe.  I got the 2.0t track version, which features 19" wheels, with 14 inch brake rotors and brembo dual pistion front and rear brakes.  It has a torsen-type limited slip differential, Xenon HID's,  Proximity key (its sooooo sick), bluetooth, infinity 10 speaker system, along with all the standard stuff.

the car is a ton of fun so far!!! you gotta see it in person though, it looks awesome!

word i feel ya, but i wasnt really feeling a two seater would be best for me at this point in my life.  Plus i just really wanted to get something new, that i could keep super nice and not worry about any dings and scratches and other BS that other owners did to it.  I keep my stuff really nice and it just bugs the hell out of me when there are scratches and what not that i didnt even do!!?

Get an exhaust on that thing pronto.

The bend of the stock exhaust is super restrictive. Opening up the exhaust will do wonders for that baby. I am pretty confident that exhaust was designed to keep power down as to keep the power away from the more expensive V6 model.

Most I4 turbo motors are extremely detuned to ensure they don't get near the more expensive models with N/A motors.

...a lot of turbo motors are the top of the line for that current model too

i wasn't disagreeing with you, i was just going off of what you said and was saying that there should be easy mods to get that power back

Certainly.

Stock turbo cars are an automotive engineers gift of cheap power.

I think the only part of the Genesis I don't like is it's weight, but then again all new cars are getting heavier and heavier.

Sorry man but i think buying a brand new car is straight up dumb, you lost a couple Gs when you drove it home.  Not to mention what you could get lightly used for the same money.... sorry man I dont get it.

I parted out most of it since its for sale, but it still pushes out about 250+ with the one bolt-on i still have on it


and as for exhaust, i'm totally getting on that, i'm just waiting for this one company, MXP, they are making a really nice exhaust, 3" turbo-back, looks reall good.

as far as power, yes they de-tuned it a lot so they would get more V6 sales, but its not de-tuned as much as you would think.  turns out the turbo is tiiiiiny.  Its in the TD04 family but is one of the smallest variations.  The good news is that an ECU reflash will net you 40 HP, plus exhaust which they said gives 10-15,  should give it some decent power for a while.  I'm just gonna start with exhaust though and drive it more to make sure everythings cool with it.  It would be dumb for me to void my warranty before we know EXACTLY how reliable it is.  I have no doubts it will be reliable, but still, i'm just enjoying it =]

nice car dude! ive seen you make the casual post saying you were gettin one, i saw one at a local auto show, tehy are secksyyyy, if inly i ahd 20k more haha.

and to teh dude withteh wrx, nice whip, but buying a pre modded car= 0 respect from me.ay one who knows cars... but have fun with it anyways. it looks nice from here haha

no, the guy who owned it before me was a douch bag, how do i know this? well he put a cat back exast in it, great but no downpipe. a exaust does nothing without a downpipe. this gives me the idea that he knows nothing. he did however put a turbo timer and a intake which gives me the feeling that he cared about the longjevity of his car. over the next few months im planing on adding a new turbo (sr55) sti pinks, a system, uppipe, filters, and if i have the cash, forged pistons. from what ive seen the car looks pretty good.

rando question, wahts an up pipe? on my car(saab 9-3t) i dont think i have one, just dp's, unless i call an up pipe something else.

uppipes arnt the most crucial mod, there nothing more than a 1-3ft pipe that feeds your turbo, im not positive but i think its mostly a wrx/sti thing

yeah its a scooby thing i'm pretty sure.  my friend has an 09 WRX hatch or w/e and his g/f told me she got him an up-pipe for christmas and i was like.... a whaaaat? lol


but good luck with the rex!!! looks good!! have fun!!!  should be a sick car!!!

yeah i looked up a little about it and confirmed what i thought:

The uppipe is the pipe that connects the exhaust manifold to the compressor housing, this is probably necessary because the way the boxer is configured....come to think of it, i have never seen an exhaust manifold for one...i'm gonna go look it up i wonder what it looks like lol.

for those confused, simple terms:

intake->turbo->intercooler->Intake manifold->MOTOR->exhaust manifold->uppipe->compressor housing(turbo again)->downpipe-> and the rest of the exhaust.
