How does paypal actually work??

I know this is probably the most noob question but I really need to ask. I also thought this was the right place to put it. I recently got a job and now that I have money I would like to start participating in the B/S/T forum. I read the site but the explanation was very vague. So I thought why not just ask NS. So for a 16 year old guy with nothing like a debit card or anything how would it work??

Aright so you get your money into your bank account at your local bank. Then you setup a paypal account. From here you connect your paypal and your bank account (by giving paypal the requested info) From here you either sell someone something or transfer money from your bank account to your paypal account. They send the money then you accept it then it is in your acount. If you wanna buy something you send it to the persons account (covering paypal fees).  I hope that helped.

you need to get a debit card. open an account get the card and then open a paypal account. then you can transfer money from your bank account to your paypal. i just got done setting it up and it took quite a while.

so can you keep money in your actual paypal balance or does it automatically go to your bank account??

You can keep money in your paypal account and either put that towards future purchases or later transfer it back to your bank account.

just a tip: make sure when setting up your paypal account make put it as premier so you only have to pay 3% paypal fees instead of 5%

you don't NEED one but you do need the account and routing numbers. these are both found on bank checks

Is there any way i can receive money without having my bank account connected with paypal? Idk it just seems sketchy for a 3rd party to have access to my bank account.

Also, how should i arrange getting paid with someone buying my stuff? so far ive dealt with legit people so i'm ok with getting the money after the person receives what ive sent, but for the future is there a better way to set up payment so that i know im getting paid, and the buyer knows for sure they are getting what they paid for once theyve paid?

Well the way it works is that when you setup paypl any money you spend comes from your bank unless you transfer money into your paypal account beforehand. If someone is sending you money it will go straight into your bank account or your paypal account, from one of those plces you can bring money from your bank into paypal for quicker payments, or you can leave it in your account and when you buy something it takes a couple days to process it. And if someone is sending you money it isnt sketchy. Paypal is 100% legit and secure so dont worry to much about that.

Also, when selling the way it works is the buyer pays you first, than you send out their shit. So once you recieve the full payment and the paypal payment is processed you can than send out the buyers gear.
