Need opinions on skis
by the way please dont tell me to fuck off and read another thread about this, im new and need help, thanks :)
I need to choose between the following skis at the following prices, im not really that keen on importing from the US. www.xe.com gives a currency converter in case you dont know the exchange rate (im in the UK)
Im 5'11-6ft not sure exactly, a beginner (to skiing... im going to get good at ACTUAL skiing obviously dont want to be just a park rat altho i want to get good) I want skis that i can use for park, piste, off piste etc i.e. all mountain but twin twip and freestyle orientated. if this is possible? Here are the skis:
Dynaster TroubleMaker £369.99 WITH bindings available in 165/175
Rossignol Scratch FS £269.99 WITHOUT bindings Available in 168
Line Maverick £249.99 WITHOUT bindings. Available in 150/160/170/180
Line Skogan Sprang £329.99 WITHOUT bindings. Available in 176
Head MadTrix 02/03 (last seasons?!) £299.99 WITH bindings. Available in 163/172/182.
I dont want your opinion if you havnt skiied them because i know half of you are biased to certain brands! Also any other suggestions would be great.
First twins: Get scratch fs 168s and get some scratch 100 bindings. Good for starting. Too short for you, really, but since you're a newbie it should be perfect. They're easy to control, great for the park, and good all mountain. You could get TMs but they're much stiffer... I wouldn't reccommend starting on them in the park.
Didn't you do this already?
Anyway, I'm 5'6 and uber-light so it doesn't really matter, but I have some old Concepts and 02/03 mad_trix, I am happy with both of them in terms of hard snow performance. I suck ass at park stuff though so I can't judge them there.
I see few people bashing the troublemakers and public enemies on NS, so it sounds like they are good skis too.
Yeah sorry for double posting its just now ive more idea about prices and availability of skis within the UK. Also made up my mind that i want to ski rather than snowboard. ALSO realised that its hard to get good honest information on this site, hence askin for just that so thanks!
PEs are available WITH Marker? bindings for about £420... TMs seem good not heard anything bad, same with scratch fs. Will the scratch not be too floppy on the mountain? Problem is only opinion i get over here is from my friend who hasnt done any freestyle and skis Screams so he thinks everything else is too soft.. whereas thats what ill be starting on (once ive progressed far enough in lessons)
anymore advice would be great :)
They aren't too floppy for all mtn where I am, which is westcoast (BC). They ski really well.
Until next year ill be using them in the snowdome (thank god its not dryslope) which is basically a hip, kickers and quite a few rails.
