When you get your skis edged at a shop does it create more friction on rails or does it realy matter? Because I am kind of reluctant to do it and just do it myself on spots that need it.
If you slide rails right only the base of the edge will touch the rail, but they eventually round off. I don't think it's that big of a deal if it's a good rail. Try searching the forum for stuff like this, there are half a million posts about ski tuning and rail sliding.
We'll have you dead pretty soon.
if your shop is get, get them to do custom edge bevels on your skis, go for 2 or even 3 degrees up on the base, that way you still have edges, but you wont hang up on rails, it works rather well for me
