I ski with a pack most of the time and it doesnt bother me. You dont really need it though if you are just riding the park. It hasnt affected my riding at all. If you dont have a pack get a Dakine Heli Pro best pack I have ever skied.

Yeah camelbacks of beer is fun. But bags are useful for carrying things like cameras, layers, other crap you may need on the mountain, phone, radios, gps, shovel, water, whatever.

I use mine for camera equipment and a shovel and packing my food / gloves / goggles to the hill.

It does affect your skiing performance if you ask me, I usually ditch it in the park when we session or not where it, but always wear it in the back country.

I fell on my pack today.... with a large Pelican Case inside... fuck, thing bashed me in the head, hurt. I fell cause there was 0 visability and I was skiing from the back country onto a run but couldn't see a run and then WHAM!! I was on my back on a groomer, facken hurt.

yeah sometimes you need a pack but as long as you get one that's not any bigger than whatever you need it for it shouldn't really hamper you much, whoever mentioned the DaKine Heli-Pro knew their shit, sweet pack if you just want to bring a shovel and few other things but nothing too hefty.

I have a pack, I carry around lunch, change of pants when I'm bussing to the mountain instead of driving, extra gloves, and I stick my helmet in there when I don't think I need it. But it's most useful for clipping my skis onto when I'm walking or on the bus. Doesn't bother me at all.

You're a poser if you wear a backpack? That has to be the dumbest thing I have heard in a long time man. I mean...jesus dude...are you kidding? uh, i HAVE to wear a pack when I ski cause i keep gps/avalanche gear if I am going out of bounds, food, water, shovel, another layer of clothes or for a place to put clothes if I get hot, camera, the list goes on. WHy do you think so many pros and good skiers wear one? Its not for the looks man, if I am going just to the park i ditch the pack for sure but skiing out of bounds it is a must.

Dude if you want a really slim pack that won't mess you up check out the DaKine Shuttle pack. It will hold a camelback, a becon, a shovel, and a couple power bars...and that it...but you can't even feel it when you ride.

yeah if i have a pack its for my camera because theres no need for beacons and all that backcountry avalanche stuff out east, but my camera needs a nice padded pack to be carried in in case i fall, but i wouldnt do tricks with my camera

i ski with a bag constantly only because of my camera, doesnt really bother my skiing, but im always nervous cause i have 5 grand worth of crap on my back...any tiny spill/asshole from jersey taking me out could be a major disaster
