Really Freeskier.. Really?

its not even mid-dec and i already got my photo annual for 2009 although one of their better volumes (last few months have been lacking in quality content).

With that said... i pose a question:
Should Freeskier move to a Bimonthly Magazine like Freeze was? ..discuss.

yeah, i get like 3 or 4 issues a year, and they are all out of order. at first I wasn't getting any, but after calling them like 6 times they started sending them. I would be way more pissed off, but i got a 3 year subscription for $3 which is about what it is worth. The whole magazine is just an advertising vehicle, but the pictures are nice.

I personally would like to read a season wrap up in april-may than in January...

There would be no reason to change Freeskier, it is a sub par magazine and a waste of money since you can just read their new advertising on their website and just buy the photo annual if it's any good.  Nothing in that magazine is worth reading, I mean the resorts write their own reviews most of the time and that's all they put in there.

i dont think anyone expects anything but mediocre from freesker anymore. they've pretty much solidified their place in the ski community as a colorado centric, frat fest, that will mostly cover the same athletes and skiing styles issue after issue. i don't think it would make much a difference when they come out with issues as most people just get it for the pictures.

 unless they restructure the magazine, employ some journalists that are based out of different parts of the country (or world), and stop putting Peter Olenick in every issue, the shit is going down the drain... fast

thats how magazines work! They mail you the new one early, and put them on the newstands for the the entire month, of the issue. And obviously the pics are from last year, so whats it matter if you get it now?

If I were them I would go to a bi-month format over a greater portion of the year.   I'd try to focus more on getting exclusive photos, or at least release them before a movie of a given photoshoot comes out (it's hard to get stoked on the picture if you've already seen a movie of it...).  It'd also be nice if they tried to diversify their coverage a bit.  It seems very disproportional how much they cover the contest/colorado scene.

I'm liking the idea of bimonthly, that would be nice.  How many issues are left for this season? 1? 2?  Me being in ohio, my season hasnt started yet (fingers crossed for friday but there has been rain), and most of the issues intended for this season are out.

theres a lot of stuff in freeskeir that i like. like the pics trick tips and some of the articles are pretty good....but thers an advertisment every other page which is just a waste of space. I did see this coors light ad that said "Coors Light. Colder then first chair." i appreciated the ski reference.

i actually really look forward to getting my freeskier in the mail every month. if it were up to me, they would come biweekly, not monthly, and certainly not bi-monthly.
and if you've ever met peter olenick you would know he's a hell of a lot of fun. i'd put some of his antics in my mag too.

The only thing cool in that waste of paper is the ad for Level 1.

Anyone with a 3rd grade reading level could read it cover to cover in under 5 minutes. If I want to look at skiing pictures I will look on the internet, they are free, better resolution, and are typically people progressing the sport.

My biggest gripe with Freeskier is they give NO love to the East Coast. Such a huge percentage of their customer base and target market shred the ice coast all winter long, yet there is hardly any recognition. It'd be cool if they did an East Coast only issue sometime.
