How much does it cost to shred AK?

So im dreaming here while studying Canadian Corporate Taxation and was thinking just how much does it cost to go to AK.

Being from good ol canada eh, a flight from Montreal at best would be $700USD  plus added weight for your planks: $100USD (obviously you take your boots on board)

Then based on Chugach Powder Guides newsletters I get, the average price for a week with transpo and lodging would run you $6000USD.  You could get cheaper by 500USD or so if you go double occupancy.

So then there is food which is not included...say $50USD a day (your gonna need a good meal at the beginning and end of the day.  This involves also a moderate drinking tab (highly unlikely).  Total $350USD.

Then this all assumes you have your own gear, if not...start stocking up!

So the tally is with taxes and a cushion (for the pushin): $9000USD

Was talkin to the man himself JP at IF3 and he said round that figure too (cleary Orage or Armada grabs the tab)...so ya...either your a pro and its covered, you work like a mofo in some high paying job or you win the lottery.

If I missed anything or anyone wants to correct me or just has some input...splurge!

if i won 10k+ in the lotto, this might be top of my list, ny heli kiing really. and enough to bring some my pops and some other peeps cause id be a legit rich ass mofo like dat.

you guys should look into kite skiing. almost all the shit you'll be shreding up in AK will be alpine. If the wind is going right you can ride the wind up to the approach of the big lines... wind is free, while gas for your sled is expensive. and although i've never been up to ak it seams as though it would be way too far to skin to the base of any line you wanna ski.

as for getting to the tops (where the heli would drop you off on that knife edge you want to get up to so bad)... judging from the footage I don't know if skining will get you up there - mountainering skills will probably be required. but shit dude - a hell of a lot cheeper than the 6000 price tag on the heli ride.

The key to making the most of heliskiing in AK is flexibillity. Your really don't want to commit to a package of however many thousand $$$ per week because you can so easily get skunked with the weather. What you really do need to do is to commit a decent period of time (think >2 weeks) and accept that most of the time you won't be flying. You need an operator that allows you to hang out in AK, biding your time, and then when it does go blue you go nuts and pack in as much as possible.

It seems that Alaska Heliskiing allow you to do this the best- check out their site, with particular reference to the 'Daily Rates' bit: http://www.alaskaheliskiing.com/rates.html - which allows you to only pay for the time actually spent in the heli...

Alternatively, maybe check out North Cascade Heli, based out of Mazama WA. Ok, so it's not AK, but they do have access to some pretty killer terrain, are happy to do nice deals, plus I reckon it would be cheaper to get to...
