Real life pirates killing thousands in africa Interesting

So last week i heard something on the news about pirates in Somalia hijacking a ukranian warship and stealing 33 german military tanks, so i looked it up to find out more and learned some crazy stuff. Somalian Pirates hijack almost 100 boats per year. They throw the crews and anyone on board into the water to drown. In 2007, 1400 people were missing or dead after setting off into the gulf of Aden (The most dangerous stretch of water in the world, and the home of the somalian pirates). There is a large unknown mothership that was last spotted in 2005, this mothership sends out smaller faster boats that do the hijacking. Pirates hold anyone they decide to keep, as hostages, hoping for ransom. If no ransom comes or comes too slow, the pirates will just kill all their hostages and keep the boat and cargo for themselves.

Yes, that is exactly what I'm telling you. I know two people that I did a four-week summer camp training program with, they were a bit older than me, and were enlisted in the Canadian Army for a total of seven weeks before their commanding officer told them they would be put to better use serving in the US. last year they both moved to the states and joined the US military, one of them was immediately promoted to SEAL and the other was immediately promoted to Ranger. I asked a couple of officers on the reserve about it and they said they will often recommend a move to the US Army, and that they were asked to do that by higher-ups because apparently the US military wants more Canadians working for them.
I don't know if you read it right, but in my original post I told you to look it up if you don't believe me. Our entry-level training program is the exact same as your SEAL program.
Maybe that's why the Canadian regiments were the only Allied forces to complete a single mission objective on D-Day. Oh, you can look that up too if you'd like.

i was recently on a ship in SE asia. It is actually the fastest passenger cruise ship in the world. But there were no guns on board. so at night they would un ravel all the fire hoses.....that was our defense. pretty crazy. They would open it wide open at night too, cruising at lke 30knots

but i do the same work out activities as a professional baseball player. so i automatically can be  a baseball player right?  because the canadians do the same work outs as our soldiers and they can apparently go right from basic into being lumped into some of the best soldiers in the world.

they do the same TRAINING, not just the same workouts. the exact same technical training as well as physical training. i'm sorry that neither Army gives the exact details of their training on the internet, i'm not responsible for that. I gave you the two best links I could, and if they don't have enough information for you, i suggest you join the Army, meet some Rangers or SEALS, and ask them where they hail from and how they got to be where they are.
or you could just go right on not believing a word i say, it's your loss, not mine.

here is my beef, i have NO doubt that there are very highly trained Canadian soldiers but when K Rob says that  "the lowest ranking Canadian soldier is actually qualified for the highest-ranking soldiers in the US military" 

i never plan to be a professional baseball player, and thats my point, just because i can field a ground ball and hit a baseball does NOT compare me to be the best in the world.

If they are there, then you can find them.  We have fucking planes, subs, and ships.  If they actually cared and turned pirate hunting into a real mission then they would find and dispatch them quick.  The reason they arent being found is because hunting them is pretty much the bottom of the priority list.

look buddy, i'm not the one doing the comparing, your military is. so if you think it's wrong that our kids can stand alongside your best of the best, i suggest you take it up with someone in power, instead of comparing professional athletes to military personnel.

just a little info for you all. The majority of the ships in the picture of the modern naval ships...are American and British. So no, just the US navy alone is not stopping it. Of course i doubt this is a US navy priority unless it's an american ship attacked.

and it's unfair to compare d-day landings. The Canadians had one beach, right between 2 others, which is where the bulk of the invasion went. The Americans had 2 beaches, one of which was isolated and the other of which was possibly the most heavily defended beach in normandy. But you know, i'm french so i'm not gonna argue it, i'm just thankful that anyone landed at all. I'm sure the veterans that were actually there would have the same viewpoint. It's a worthless argument

like i said, you're comparing tacos to rocketships. where do you think pro baseball players come from anyways? they just fall out of the sky and are suddenly pro? i'm pretty sure they start out doing the same training you do, only they're just more naturally talented and probably built a lot better for the big leagues.
it's obvious you have absolutely no idea about anything the military does, you probably don't even know anybody who serves. i don't know why i'm wasting my time trying to convince you that your soldiers could very well be skinny Halo nerds who joined just because they wanted to shoot something.

I would hardly call the American military a disgrace, they are still pretty damn good, but during a war it's only normal that the quality of training goes down as you need more troops in the field faster. which in my opinion makes a tiny bit of sense, but i'd still prefer better training over numbers

i don't disagree with you, it is pretty damn ridiculous. i'm not an expert on the military, but i have been doing a lot of training with my local reserve and i have met a lot of people and talked with a lot of people. whatever though, you guys don't have to believe me, just don't be surprised if you find out there's a bunch of little Halo nerds being thrown into your war.

As I said; there will always be more, and they're every where. Im not saying that the one pirate fleet couldn't be defeated, but it would be pretty pointless because there are always more of them. Also to clarify everything; this is a drunken argument.

yes, one of my friends is a SEAL, and another one of my friends is a Ranger, although it has been 14 months since they moved, and both are now 18, not 17.
