Trying to decide between 190's and 193's - i know, very different skis.
I am 5'11" 160 lbs., and ski Big Sky and Moonlight Basin. i am 19, an
aggressive skier, and i like a stiffer ski, can't stand shaky skis, cuz
i like to go pretty fast. I have volkl karmas for everyday skiing and
volkl m-rocks with freerides for touring.
i want to get a ski for: (in no order)
- pow days
- 2 or 3 days following pow day in trees
- Headwaters - steep skiing
- cliff drops up to about 20-25 feet
so, which one do ya'll think is the better choice?
Even though I have no experience with them, the 190 would probably be your better bet from reading the reviews. I would only get the 193 if you were doing some serious charging in AK style mountains, the 190s look like a much more "recreational" skier. I quote "recreational" because this won't be a rec ski at all...
id say 190s too, but also check out the armada ANTs which is pretty much the same ski but lighter weight and maybe the new Line motherships, my friend has been riding them this past year and he loves them.
i hate to steal your thread, but i hope you dont mind bc im still going to do it lol. anyways im 5' 10'' and 150 pounds, and i cant decide between the 186s and the 193s, and i have already ruled out the 190s. My problem is i like the size of 186 better bc they will be smaller and lighter for throwing flips and spins off cliffs and whatnot, but im not sure about the tail rocker on the 186, how is this going to affect landings on the bigger drops (over 50 feet+), and how about the turns on the really steep (i would think that the rocker would want to push you up hill)? has anyone out there skied both the 193 and 186? and if so what is your input? anyone who has skied either one and has some input would be really appricated
