Soft and flexy are kind of the same thing.
patience and practice, is what makes it easier.

i think he means soft or snappy, like if the ski can bend really easily and then just stays bent or if it snaps back into place like bluehouse MR's do, i'd say just pure soft would be easier because it's easier to stay on the tips

and you gotta have a bit of weight on you. cuz when you butter you don't just use your legs.

Honestly I think its just technique. I only weigh 140 and can butter alright on my scrathces, people butter on stiff skis like volkl walls so it's just how you do it.
If you cant get the perfect technique then soft skis and leg muscles are what you need.

i'm surprised no one's mentioned boots, i think they're more important than the ski in some cases. try to keep your boots on the first setting so that they're nice and flexy and then just really throw your weight into the skis, should take care of itself. you gotta be willing to fall over your skis doing this if you want to really butter them hard

It really depends, if you have really soft boots like mine which have a flex of 65, the your boots will take the give instead of the skis. Stiff boots give more leverage for the butter.
