This hunting yeti really sucked. cornice wall ride was sweet, and garret russel was sweet that's it. raise your hand if you're getting sick of pollard...
The whole idea is that you get a taste of everything that goes on. I thought the towing of the inflatable boats was kinda funny, and I have taken the drive from mammoth to hood, so I can appreciate how much road trips like that blow.
I can't expect everyone to relate but the whole idea was documenting the life too, and that's what they are doing. If it;s not your thing just skip to the skiing and stop complaining.
man think of the last ski trip you went on with your friends. im sure you had some awesome skiing memories, epic lines and big jumps and stuff. but im sure a lot of the memories you had were from off-hill experiences too, the car trip, roaming around, hangin out in your hotel/house/car/tent what have you. thats what these guys are trying to do. theyre creating a picture of a whole season instead of just pieced together clips of tricks. not trying to put down ski porn movies, cause theyre really sick, but i love this documentary style that shows you everything that went down.
^^^^Don't get me wrong, Hunting Yeti is becomig better that Idea, that's for sure. Content-wise and filming-wise. But it just doesn't get me stoked that much. I guess I'm getting tired of their whole idea. I enjoyed the Stept trailer 10 times more than any Hunting Yeti episode, for example
I know what you mean, I'm sick of his whole positive attitude. Fuck humble people, we need more haters that can't ride very well to critique people who can. I like him alot less as a person now too. Please keep the knowledge coming. I want my fucking money back!!!
Wait. So you would prefer to watch something that doesn't reflect what actually goes on when shooting? You want your ski stars to be unpersonal gods that are portrayed as absolutely destroying everything to a heavy soundtrack under an unlimited heli budget?
This is exactly the sort of thing that Hunting Yeti seems to be trying to get away from. They don't seem to be going out there to make a video that will be like what you want, they are filming it as it goes down. I much appreciate the honesty that the webisodes have, as well as the everyday life that goes into them. The skiing (and boarding) is mind blowing, there is no question. But this stuff is so far from Ski Movie III, which pretty much idealizes what you want. There is a place for both, but many people enjoy this experiment that Nimbus embarked on. If you are going to hate on them for trying something new that is deliberately different from what was the norm, at least realize the sillyness of arguing for them to go back to the same thing that they have moved away from.
Pollard lame? What on earth are you basing that on? No, he's not doing double cork 14s in the bc. He keeps it smooth, and stays with lower rotations that are corked out in some very interesting ways, something that only a few other pros can do, one being Mahre. Hating on a major innovator in the sport who has been crushing it for quite a while makes you look like a fool.
"WHAT!??! POLLARD DID A 360, A 540, AND A FLATSPIN 7 ON THAT JUMP?!?! NEVER SEEN THAT BEFORE?!?!"
Oh and, I recognize the different that Nimbus is brnging to the ski movie "scene," and i appreciate it, believe me. Just the fact that I really don't care that they went shopping for camping supplies, nothing funny/worthwhile even happened! Sure, throw in the documentation feel to it, but at least make it interesting for the viewer for christ's sake!
And i actually feel a little bad for hating, the second episode they released was fuckingsick - they actually did big stuff, threw down some super impressive tech lines, and i was happy! this one however was bogus. they went to mt st. helens and did two 360's each, SICK! SO likeI've said before, cornice wallride was sick,(snowboard rodeo on!) episode 2, garret russel, and also pep's switch nine at mammoth was really cool. and that's hit. at least they got something right in episode two...
