so im starting to look around at colleges. i want to major in communications and my main focus is education, but i still want somewhere with access to a decent mountain. also, i live back east so a visit is basically out of the question. if anyone can help me out, please do so. even a website with college rankings would be good.
for the record, i am already considering oregon, utah, washington state, weber

I don't really know what your grades/SAT's are like, but University of Washington - seattle, has great communications and its less than an hour to the slopes. I teach lessons on weekends so i managed to ski about 45 days this winter. Plus UW students get 400$ season passes to Whistler.

yea im pretty sure U of Washington and Washington State both have really good communication programs
UW is much tougher to get into initially than WSU.
UW you need about a 3.7gpa ish with a 1700+ on your SAT and WSU I know some kids that got in with 2.9 Gpa and 1500 on the SAT

Wasu you only need a 2.0 to get in.
I go to uw (from out of state if that means anything) and i had a 3.6 and an 1800 (700 on math).

yes, that makes it much easier. not trying to be a dick, but a middle class white washintonian would not get in with that, under normal circumstances

Well honestly, i pay out of state tuition, so i think its a plenty fair trade in the university's eyes. plus i graduated with over twice as many required high school credits and took like 8+ classes a day... that helps.

Exactly. You pay a lot more than Washington kids, so they would rather have you. Props though, it sounds like you busted your ass

well i have about a 3.7 through junior year and my SAT's are 1790. do you know if they take senior year grades and/or schedule into account? and anyone know how far away Oregon U is from Mt. Hood?

1790 out of CR/Math, or all 3? and yes, they take senior schedule into account. i applied to UW before my first semester grades came out, but they accepted me. given (claim free) i had a 3.94 GPA with all honors/AP, and 2170 in SAT, and a really hard schedule. but yes,
UW DOES LOOK AT YOUR SENIOR GRADES/SCHEDULES!
there was an article in the paper a while ago about how they told people who had been accepted that they no longer were, once they found about about their new schedules/grades.

all 3. its 1160 with just cr/math. and i have a full schedule next year, but most of the classes are electives. i am, however, taking advanced english and advanced german, so i guess i dont really think i need to worry about not getting accepted just based on class load.
thanks

hey man, if you really want to go to UW, you are going to have to change a lot of that. your SAT scores are low and your class load is also rather weak. i had 3 AP classes. not saying you have to have 3 AP classes, but that sounds weak.
for your SAT scores, i would really suggest taking a class. i did, and it helped a lot. i hated it at the time, but it payed off big time. also, go in and talk to your counselor, you are going to need to beef that up as well.
UW is a really competitive school to get into to begin with. on top of that, this year and last year are the worst years for college acceptance ever; there are tons of kids trying to get into the same school.
sorry i had to break it to you bud, but better this than getting wait-listed, or even worse rejected. good luck man

well if thats true then im kinda boned. cuz i already took an SAT class and it brought me up like 200 points from my first time. but i took AP euro last year and got a B, still waiting on AP exam score tho. do you think being an editor for our school's yearbook or being president of the broadcast media club will help at all? or working at a local news station? cuz i am doing all of those now.
