Drugs in skiing

Wtf is up with everyone thinking that smoking weed makes them cooler in edits. There are so many good skiers that smoke weed and could probably be better if their brains weren't fried. In my personal opinion don't put it in edits, it makes you look stupid.

id call it more of a means of expression for the purpose of spreading the disregard for unfair laws than something to make your edit look cool. and dont ever say weed fries your brain, you obviously dont know enough about it make a statement like that and people are going to focus more on that statement than your overall topic.

Some french girl lived for 120 years smoking a cigarette everyday of her adult live, does it means  cigarette is good for you?

Cannabis affect your brain and is surely not good for your health. It's not my opinion, it's the conclusion of many reasearch conducted by scientist that were not paid by government.

Does that mean everyone that smoke weed is getting his brain fried and getting stupid?? I dont think so but some people are more affected then others and tehir brian abiltities might goown quite a bit

Not because it fucks your brain and  isnt good for your health. Alcohol does the same thing anyway.

The reason why I strongly believe that pot is bad for you is how kids get addicted to it and a lot of ski teenager cant help smoking  weed 2-5 times a day. I know a whole bunch of kids that couldnt pay for rent because they spent too much money on weed.  Smoking weed is a problem when i's more important for you then buying good food and paying for a place to live.

I know a lot of you guyz dont agree with me on this one but think about the money you spend on drugs and the money you spend on food+ lodging.  Now imagine what you could do with that money if you werent smoking... you could use it to buy some ski stuff or  gaz money to go skiing more often. you could also use that oney to fly out west or go to summer camps to shred in the summer time instead of getting high with your buddies around a camp fire or in front of teh tv.

I'm not asking all of you to stopp smoking or whatever, it's your life not mine and feel free to do whatever you want with it and I wont judge you. I only want you to think a little about it so you have a better idea about why you smokeand how does it affect your life.

yea and if you never drank, never went out to eat, never drove anywhere you could probably go to camp for an extra week too.  i agree theres a fine line between use and abuse,  but honestly, just skiing, like pow skiing/big mountain ripping around is 1000x more fun high.  to me theres seriously no better time when its dumping, i'm storm skiing, free refills, tunes blaring and i'm fucking out of my goard.  no homo- its fucking magical.

oh and weed does make you a better skier.  first off i personally believe the cold air whipping you in the face kind of limits the "sedated/stoned" phase you can go into.  in general i'm just more playful and down to do jibby/wierd stuff.  but the real reason is that its a painkiller, so you don't feel the lactic acid as much, and it takes away alot of your fear...at some point skiing is more mental than physical for some people, especially when it comes to jumping off cliffs.  i ski better high no question, and thats because i'm far less of a pussy.

solid post ced. i must say i used to smoke weed like a mad man, 3-4 times a day everyday for like 6 months. i guess it was pretty fun when i look back on it. now i will smoke like twice a month. it's much more enjoyable when i do smoke, and i save a good bit of money. although i would be saving MAD money but i used to deal a little to at least break even...

all in all, weed in moderation is awesome. but when it consumes your life...QUIT

jea, good post ced... its true though, my friend would always say "i could stop smoking weed tomorrow if i wanted to, but i dont want to." some people are just too ignorant to realize that weed is an addictive substance.  now he keeps going on to smoke 3+ times a day regularly and does shit in school because he goes high.. weed is fine, like almost any drug. just dont abuse it and it most likely wont have any negative effects on you.

Weed is not addicting, only mentally addicting. If someone wanted to quit and did they would not go through withdrawals or anything like that. It barely does anything to your body, watch "Super High Me" But that aside, people get way to into it. They become mentally addicted, like watching TV, or going on this site. Once you walk away from it nothing happens. Weed does fuck anyone lives up, they fuck there own up because they can't control themselves

what are you posting these links for??? did you read them?  none of them had any evidence or even mentioned long-term effects of marijuana on the brain.  The person you told to shut up is right, it is proven....... People are slower and lack memory skills while using marijuana, if they stop, within a couple weeks, they are no worse off than before they used.  Look up some psychology studies done on marijuana, you will be very surprised.

Every bit of evidence you just tried to use, is straight propaganda.  A teacher would laugh at you for using it as a source.

A connection has also never been proven between lung cancer and marijuana.......if it causes lung cancer, how come noone can support that with evidence?  The connection between cigs and lung cancer has been proven many many times over

may be bad for the heart and other things mentioned, but you ever see the list of side effects for prescription drugs???

Can you please show some supporting evidence to this claim?  specifically the effects on the brain...not while using, but longterm....

here is something i pulled from the other kids links ( that were supposed to prove that marijuana had long-term effects on the brain......haha what a moron)

Does marijuana affect your brain? yes. If your cause if it wouldnt, there would be no point in using it. All the effects you want by smoking pot are mainly caused by the substance affecting your brain.

Here is a list of unwanted side effects: anxiety, trouble to concentrate, alteration of short term memory, paranoia, ect. all these effect are temporary and change from people since they are mostly psychic disorders.

Canabis can also  help psychotic dysorder to develop or reveal them. 


Even tho long term effect havent been studied enought yet I think it safe to say that canabis affect your brain and unless you use a vaporiser (wich I doubt most of the users use, especially while skiing)  it mess up your lungs just like cigarette.

Unless you know who grew the plants you smoke you prolly have no idea if therewas somethign added to it in order to have a stronger effect. all these added substance may also be bad for your health and for your brain.

The problem is not the use of marijuana, it's the reason to use it. If you need to smoke  pot  multiple times per day you should concider it as a problem since you need to alter your mindset to enjoy whatever your doing.

To all of those who says they can stop smoking anytime well you may want to try it for a month. If you say you dotn want to well your pretty much proving the whole point and if you stop smoking  for acouple weeks you may have some more money for skiing next winter. (note that this is mostly directed to people who are smoking on a dayly basis)

The way I see it as a non smoker:
You absorb cancer causing substance by smoking marijuana

THC in the marijuana kill some genetically damaged cells that can become cancerous

you dont have a lung cancer from smoking marijuana but in the end there are cells that are damged and killed

Cigarette is worst on the lungs.

Underage (mostly) NSG ranting needs to stay out of this forum in my opinion. Back to the actual topic... I think smoking or whatever can work as a lifestyle shot to show your audience what you are all about, most of the time it just tells your audience you are a tool and think youre actually a badass for doing something illegal, though it doesnt have to be that way, all dependent on how you put it in your film/edit~

no I only get to ski a couple times a year (mostly during holidays) what is so special about april 20th ? anyway, if someone is smoking durgs out of a pipe (weed I guess) right in front of the liftiies they are probably going to get arrested so that is they're problem

your totally right. it started as a bunch of high schoolers from california would sit outside at 420 everyday and get high (on weed). oh well. you learn something new everyday I guess. thanks for the google tip man, i would have never though to check for something as crazy as a drug smoking holiday on google.

Any drug has long term effects on your body if you use it enough times, this includes asprin and penicilin.  And smoking weed doesn't actually make anyone better at skiing, it may make you more cofident, or care less about falling (which is why I smoke when I ski), but weed does nothing that would make you a better skier.  Whether you but drug use in an edit is up to whoever is making the edit, for some people it fits really well (Mik D, Tanner) for others it doesn't.  Its a personal choice
