the snowboarder didnt have to look and jump, he had to jump at the right time to end up on the right side of the mountain, and that he didnt overshoot and break his legs 1000 feet down. Also, the wind could have easily taken him and blown him off to who knows where, because he was completely unshielded from the wind on all sides
pierre knew he was going to land on the right side of the mountain, but he didnt know if he was going to get impaled by a rock or not. there would only be wind from 1-3 sides to effect the course of his drop as well.
They're two different things, each requiring different preparations, and different complications. I wouldnt judge either if you couldn't do them yourself
