Yes, it is that time of year again
for all you knowledgeable NS'ers to choose me a ski for next year. And don't
you worry, I am no n00blet... I know how to make one of these threads!
Skiing ability: Level III+
Location: Bumblefuck, Ohio
Main use of skis: About 95% park on the EC and 5% of dicking around on the mountain. Also, 1 or 2 trips out west or to VT or NH area.
Skis I've ridden:
05/06 178 Line Invaders:
Loved the soft construction
Butter zones were very fun
Center mounting was nice
Washed out on jumps pretty easy
They delaminated after about 4 days
05/06 170 Ninthward Butters:
Stiff enough to take out of the park for a day, but still great in the park
Held a good edge all mountain
Kept their pop
Topsheet chipped very easily
Tails were a little too stiff for my liking
I broke them
05/06 180 Armada Ar5’s:
Held their edge well all around the mountain
Could ride everywhere
A little too stiff to be a park only ski at my size
Topsheet chipped too much
Now on to my requirements…..
I want a ski that is on the softer side, and the fatter side. It will pretty much be my one-ski quiver. I am really looking for something that will be fun all around the mountain (great in park, good all mountain, semi-fat). All in all, a wide, soft jib-stick.
BUT, I don’t really want cap
construction. I have skied it before and it just wasn’t for me.
So now on to some skis I have had in
Line Elizabeth (kind of fat for Ohio)
Line Anthem (not a fan of cap construction)
K2 ObSETHed (might be a little softer this year, and I like the rocker idea)
K2 Kung Fugas (not really sure about this ski)
Armada ARV (have heard good things about it)
Feel free to suggest another ski if you think I missed something!
And with all this information in mind, please help me in choosing a ski so I can SHRED THE GNAR!!!
