Prince Paul - A Prince Among Thieves
This is an amazing hip hop album put together by an amazing producer (Prince Paul). It's set up as a hip-hopera, meaning there is a storyline to follow throughout the entire album. Features Breezly Brewin from Juggaknots and Sha from Horror City as well as guest appearances from Kool Keith, Big Daddy Kane, De La Soul, and many more huge hip hop names. It is currently my favorite album, both musically, lyrically, and conceptually. Check out Weapon World, a song featuring a deranged weapons technician played by Kool Keith, as well as Macula's Theory, featuring Big Daddy Kane ripping apart the track telling about what its like to be a pimp in the city, and finally the opening song Pain, featuring Breezly and Sha. The story follows a plot setup similar to many Tarantino movies, beginning with the ending. A noteworthy album, and one that everyone should have in their libraries, and I can guarantee it will be playing in your minds over the next couple weeks. Even if you don't like hip hop, check this album out and educate yourselves. A classic album buried under all the pop shit that has been blown out of proportion for years and years, A Prince Among Thieves is a true hip hop album.
