hey so i just got a polarizer filter for my vx21k its a 30 dollar tiffen filter, i heard good things about it but i hardly notice anything at all when i use it and sometimes i think it looks worse, but other footage ive seen using a polarizer filter looks great, can someone reccomend a good brand or something?
if it's a circular polarizer, which it probably is, you might just need to rotate/twist the filter, this will adjust the ammount of polarization. With the filter off the camera you should be able to just look through it while twisting and see the difference.
You only really notice a difference if your shooting in crazy bright areas like on a ski hill when the sun is beaming right down on the snow. If it's too dark, try compensating buy putting the shutter down a little.
yeah its circular, and yeah it rotates, there is a difference when you rotate, but it never makes a big difference at all really, like ive seen raw footage from a friends camera and the sky is way more blue, the colors are much more vibrant, etc. kinda like when your wearing goggle's vs, not wearing goggles.
you might need to turn off all the cameras auto functions, also on the vx's theres a way to pump up the colorz. srsly, vx's get crazy coor saturation, so if you're not getting that you need to adjust your camera settings.
yeah i have the color saturation pretty damn high, and i use pretty much every manual setting, except for auto focus sometimes. im gonna try it next time its very sunny though, cause ive used it late in the day usually when its not quite as bright.
