After watching sean white go and get a 93 in pipe it amazes me and makes me think that skiing is at a higher level than boarding is. If any of the skiers straight aired the first hit they wouldnt even be in the running for a medal but somehow sean pulls out first with a shitty straight air, and beats out people who boosted higher than him. anyone think he does better with the judges cause he is sean white after all?
this jap guy that qulifyed 1st in front of shaun whos is 16 and not even pro is amazing thou!. besides that its awsome how skiing they boost and spin alot more and just look better over all. the funny thing is theres like a million more snowboarders
It's more frustrating to watch the snowboard superpipe because the judges are more on shawn whites dick that any other athlete. props to shawn his run is sick. but his first hit is a straight air and he shouldn't be like 5 points above everyone else.
If I'm not mistaken, it is a difference in the way snowboarding is scored:
In boarding (but not skiing) you are REQUIRED to do 2 non-tech tricks. I can't remember what your options are, but things like 180 grabs or air-to-fakie are fair game. It is something about maintaining emphasis on style, and that is why all the boarders do a couple hits that aren't huge tech tricks. Someone who knows more than me please explain it fully.
I hate when snowboarders boost like 5 feet and huck a 10. it's not even a 1080, it's a 900 with a revert at the end. So gay when they do that. That jap guy, Aono I think it was, was so sick tho. He was going huge and his 10's at the last hit were amazing. Way cooler to watch than shaun
Sal Masta-beta? He definitely LOVEs Shaun White with a passion. He has so many nicknames for Shaun White... I really liked both Japanese guys. Such compact and smooth style... the other Japanese guy that didn't podium had a really smooth run.
first off, they do back to back 1080, wich is dope.
Secondly, I havent seen any skier grab a 1260 at x-games this year, i know hayward was doing them with tial grabs at wssi but not at x.
Thirdly, most skiers dont get a solid grab in their 1080, the only one that does get a slod grab is riddle.
Finally, snowboarding is different then skiing and if I rememeber correctly shawn white grabbed all of his tricks and wen over 10 feet on his first 4 hits. Ainti that bad for someone hicking himself under 8 feet.
it's somewhat sadening to me to see so many missed/tickled grabs in skier superpipe

good points but i think what he is trying to say is that the combo of a 1260 and the amplitude and a partial grab (not a solid grab because i didnt see one a 12 either) is more technical then back to back 1080's
I for one believe that skiing pipe is on a different level from boarding pipe. I'm usually all over snowboarding's nuts but I feel that skiers absolutely kill boarders in the pipe. They go bigger and have far more tricks per run.

Oh I get it. Sorry to ruin your day.
Shit are you a snowboarder now or what? ha. I mean I get your point and everything. Snowboarders are more tech in the pipe but there are a lot of unique things about ski pipe that make it sicker in my opinion- They go waaay bigger on everything, you can actually tell when they're going switch, a lot more variety and techiness in grabs, ect. I do see where you're coming from though.
well this year was the first time I enjoyed skier pipe as much as snowboarder.
snowboarder changetheyr grabs too, it's just hard to figure it out if you are not familliar with them.
I agree a good bunch of snowboarder went for the ballarina style but you gotta realise that a whole bunch of skiers didnt grab either and spun a lot too.
I see everyone complaining about how snowboarder spin too much and I cant beleive you guyz didnt realise that most skiers go around 5 feet out on their bottom hit corked 1080 with no grabs.
I have to say that tanner run was still my favorite run from both skiers and snowboarder. I just dont think it's right to say skiers are kicking snowboarders ass in the pipe cause they arent. they are doing stuff differently causeit's a different sport.
Maybe it's just the way snowboarder can spin frontside and backside to do differnet tricks in their run that make me like it a bit more.
