i know there are probably a million threads on this, but oh well?
so i have never really tried hitting jumps switch before and was trying today. it was off of a 15ft. jump maybe a little smaller. i tried one and didn't pop really, and was way too far forward almost face planting. i am almost positive my reason is because i didn't pop off the lip. the reason i didn't, was because i didn't know how. so some advice on how to pop right while taking off switch would be awesome. thanks a lot.

i treat the jump as something to jump off of, not go off of. in other words, use your quad muscles to physcially jump into the air so theres no chance of catching and edge on the jump

Just hit it how you would normally hit a jump. I was hitting switch 180's off a smaller jump today. What i did was I popped off the jump then after i was sure i cleared it I spun the 180.
yeah i was thinking of that going up, but it felt so weird going up i kinda pussied out and didn't pop. it just felt sooo much different going off the jump, and i can ski switch fine. then i kinda psyched myself out after the first hit with almost getting some serious snow-burn. so i figured i'd consult NS and try it out again tomorrow...
sorry for postwhoring but....
i understand to pop and wait to clear the jump but that isn't what i need to know. i need to know if/how to pop off correctly. i feel it's a lot different to pop while taking it off switch, and just curious on how to pop like off the balls of my heels etc. again, thanks guys.

I guess pop just like you would normally, its not like a completly different pop, its the same pop just backwards...

Basically, when popping regular you pop off your toes to keep you level, so i was popping off my heels, basically reverse pop, so your kinda shunting your weight back.

thank you, this is the answer i was hoping for. and i got them today.
when i hit a jump switch i like to carve off, this keeps ur inside edge up so u dont catch and makes it way easy to spin. i dont really think about the pop i just do it.
when ur skiing dont think too much about stuff, it seems like over thinking fucks u up most because u start doubting. just see urself doing it and then do it

no don't pop off your heels. it works fine for switch ones and threes, but when you get to switch 5 and 7 it will throw you off. pop off your toes like normal. just wait, set a little carve like halfway up the jump, open your hips by super staggering your feet, pop off your toes like normal and only at the very very top of the lip start to spin. if you want to stay on axis lean forward with your upper body. if you want to switch cork lean back. but if you switch cork, commit to it or you will land on your side. good luck!
sorry for threadjacking but i do the opposite i land sooo backseat everytime..... how do i fix this? also i did a switch three and kinda started corking i landed horizontal with the snow like you said^^
probably do the opposite of wwhat youre doing?^^
i do that but i don't do it on purpose and it anoys me cos you have to go faster so it's hard to juge your speed and you totally travel in the air, i wish i could just pop off a lip going backwards the same as forward but i have a mental block or something.

As far as I can tell, this kid is talking about zero spins, we're not talking bout switch 5s and 7s.
Hence the pop off the heel. When it comes to spinning, yeah it kinda sucks as pointed ut above.
But for zero spins i found this works, as i believe did the creator.

Just practice your sw skiing all the time and practice staggering when you ski switch(this will make it easier to see the lip when you're taking off. The better you can ski switch the easier jumps will be. And when you hit the jump make sure that you are on the tip top of the lip when you explode on that pop, because if you take of to early you'll catch
my attempts have come up a little short, or way backseat, so i think im gonna give it another run tomorrow with your advice, thanks guys
