I'm 6ft 225, not chubby, trust me. ski park and mountain, but east coast, so no pow :( , researching for next years skis, just starting my first season of skiing been out like 5 times and doing rails and kinks and just learned 270 off and on boxes, but like riding the mountain too 50/50 maybe 60/40 more towards park. Any ski suggestions? kinda like Volkl walls and Bridges too! i'm riding on 172's now and i like em, not sure if i wanna go bigger or not. Guidance would be nice, thanks ahead of time for advice
My suggestion is the Volkl Walls: They would be amazing in the park and pretty good for skiing the rest of the mountain too. They have a symmetrical sidecut, which is really great for skiing backwards and spinning, because the weight is even on both sides. Volkl seems to have a reputation for making high performance, durable skis. If you like your 172s, I think 177 is the cloesest length the Walls come in, but you may even want to go with a 185 because center mounted skis feel shorter than skis with a factory mount.
hmmmm i want to hear from the bridge side too, any takers? Any opinions on the bindings i never read about anyone discussing those "blue" Looks. I am feelin the walls, maybe 180+ is a good idea for me centermounted that is, oh well we'll see, keep postin, thanks
Well Im EC too. The Bridges def arent too fat for park and all mtn but prolly wont be so nice on rails. As for size, Im 5'8, was on 166 last year cuz I was an idiot, im on 176 Ar6's now and I actually regret not getting the 181. Im not sure if uve been on a longer ski before but someone ur size needs one for sure. Volkl's are burly so Im sure the bridge or wall would be fine, but def 185. Dont even think shorter. Also check out the Armada Ar6 181.
As for bindings, Im on the PX12, im 1451bs., so it works great. I'm not a binding expert but if you are gonna get something with a lower din of 12, like u were thinking, make sure its a binding with burly construction. My solly S912's from last year have cracks in them cuz theyre like plastic. Look/(Rossi) is a great brand. I know Proctor Jones may still have up the Rossi FKS 155 for pretty darn cheap. Look for those. If not, PX12's or Scratch 14's or something would be good.
And just curious, what's the Duke and Jester like as far as the materials used? I assume they are tough since its like a 16 din but I really dont know so, anyone?
All I meant is that the Bridge is probably not as good on rails as the wall cuz the bridge isn't necesarilly a park specific ski. The wall is symetrical 115-87-115 if Im right and is obvi more geared towars park (rails included). Just a thought sorry bro.
yo i have p12s and i love them but then i got a pair of rossi axial2 120s and hate them. they are the worst bindings i have ever owned. they are the same binding as the px12 so if you can find p12 with the pivot heel over the px12s non pivot heel get them
flynnball16: maybe i should just ride with p10s and some leashes
r3b3lth3ory: haha dude that would be funny as fuck... skiblade style
flynnball16: skiblades are sweet
flynnball16: im gonna ride them a bunch too
flynnball16: and just kick trees
no need to apologize, i was the one that was confused, just not knowledgeable in all this yet, that's why i ask the questions, you've helped, so thanks, I think i'm set on the bridges with those p12 bindings Just waiting to see what that kid got those blue p12s for and where a couple replies up from this one
