Alright, so by my house there is a very small nature preserve that is pretty dumb followed by a bunch of private land and a little bit of public land. I have been looking back there for awhile in hope to find a perfect spot to build my own terrain park. Speed is not a problem at all because there are a bunch of hills. This summer i plan on building some rails and jumps to make it sick for next year.
The area i have been looking at is very secluded and hard to see from the main trail which is perfect. I "plan," on having a 2 jump line on the right and a bunch of boxes, rails, and jibs on the right followed by a wallride at the bottom. This is probably going to end up changing well over 10 times from now until summer but oh well
Heres my question. After skiing at Maple Ski Ridge and Okemo the past few days i have really liked the handle tows just for the park. I know this sounds crazy and probably impossible but i want to put a rope tow in. Not like a rope tow at the mountains but maybe ike a "ghettoer version." Again i know i doubt it will happen and im fine with hiking it but if i can get a rope tow in that would perfect this.
So NS, give me some ideas, feedback (good and bad) so i can make this park sick.

i no theres a way to make a rope tow idk were i read it but if u take like a lawnmower engine or smoething and put some pullys and a rope on it im not realy surea t all search online i no tehres something like this...it was in powder mag i think a couple issues ago some guy made a hill with his own ropetow in vt i forget were
"You put on your boots, click into your bindings, dust the snow off your skis, and head out for the chair, and it doesn't matter that you failed a test, didn't get the girl, or that your life is on a one way trip down the shitter, your world is right for the next couple of hours."
mygrandfather is a fucking mechanical jenius, he made my mother and her sisters a ropetow and it worked for like 20 year, i think he used a tractor engine and a lot of cables. It was all in their backyard.
make a simple pully system. Where like just a long loop of a rope around two trees so if you pull on one end the other end goes up. This means you'll have to attach youself to the up part and pull yourself up from the other side?
I like the vehicle idea. Maybe find something old, carburated and automatic (no fuel injection). Then set it up where you want and put the drive end up on blocks. Use the tire (maybe get a grove cut into it) to put the rope around, hang another one through an axel of somekind off a tree where you want it to end. As for the carburated part, I think there is a screw on it to adjust the engine idle speed, the higher you set it the more power and speed your rope to will have. Set it to a speed where you like it but you wont burn through a fuck load of gas. As for the automatic part, that just makes sure the wheels are always spinning, think about how an automatic drives forward on its own when your take your foot of the brake but don't step on the gas.
Hope that helps, I think it'll work!
Merse you sexy potatoe you better be doing some thing fucking crazy up there, see yea soon br-ah
pitty sure you could get hold of one of those row tows they put on the front of 4x4 cars and stuff, i reckon they probably run of the car battery which you could easily buy, and they're pitty strong too, definatly be able to pull you up a hill, look into it.
i dunno if this has been said or not but im pretty sure freeskier had a podcast of a how to make one, it was two old guys that seemed to be joking around and it actually worked... looked like an old video too
