mono is basically, a "disease" that causes your throat to be sore and causes you to be tired. You also have an enlarged splean and your throat glands are swollen(which causes your throat to be sore) This sickness, if treated properly with rest is nothing to be concerned of but if you are out skiing, lifting stuff or doing pretty much anything physical can cause your splean to erupt which could be deadly if not caught in time, but if it is you can still live without your spleen. Mono is also known as "The Kissing Disease" because it can be caught by kissing, but it also can be caught by being over tired, which was the case of the last one for me. Also alot of the time when you have mono you have strep throat as a "warm up".
I have had it 3 times in my life, all of which were confirmed by doctors. However, each time i had it, it was very mild. It is possible to have flare ups, but you epstein-barr virus is present in your body indefinitely post contraction.
ya well i am 3rd yr college now, i had it in grade 6 and 10 plus last fall. So the time is spread out the blood test wouldnt show a relapse but you can get it mulitiple times, just alot of Dr.s wont check for it the second time but the blood proves wrong.
I know, I'm fully aware what mono was. I was just under the understanding that you could only get it once, but I guess I was wrong.
And alot of people think they have mono, but have something else. A common illness that people get and they think they have mono is Strep. Most people get Strep strain A which is the regular painful throat or whatever. There are strains A-G though, and some of the other ones make you feel like shit and alot of people confuse them for a light case.
