the worst thing you can do is overthink it. throw tricks you are solid with, and don't try to be to excited because you'll just try something your not used to and fuck up. its just a comp anyway. have fun.

DOnt stress out, when I do comps I do it to hang out with some sick skiers and just have fun throwing down. If I do well and place all the better. I just love the atmosphere of them

if you have some playlists you usually ski to... before my comps i've listened to Ghostdragon's radio shows because they have a mix of music and chit-chat to put you between pumped up and relaxed state of mind

i did my first comp this year too. just relax. bump tunes. dont worry about people watching or tryin to impress people. just ride like you would on a normal day in the park with your friends.

yo dude, like everyone has said have fun, talk to the other skiers. Don't stress and overthink or you will most likely end up fucking up. Listen to music focus on what your going to do, mental prep yourself. Oh yeah, remember to take the pre game piss, and if you have to throw up because of nerves just do it. Good luck man, tell us how you do.

I did my first comp last year too. I was pretty stressed out about it, mostly because I wanted to win. I just did my tricks, and I was having alot of fun. I ended up landing a few 270 on and 270 out on our f-d-f box, and I got second place too. Just have fun man!

if you get 2 runs make sure u try tricks in the first run that you know you will stomp then 2nd run throw some new harder tricks into it and if you fall you have a solid first run its worked for  me a couple times...

just got back from it....and before the comp even started....i concussed myself just doing a simple 270 off of a fricken easy ass box and one of my skis got stuck on the box and the other one still spun and so i only got like a 180 off and i slammed my head straight down

yea, just have fun with it, and stick to what your familiar with. tons of people try new shit at comps, especially stuff well outside their limits, and they get hurt or just frustrated.

its nice to do well, but just use it for fun and learning.

i remember getting dead last in the first comp i ever did. but it was a blast, and I learned a ton from it.

You are probobly going to have to step it up.  You should probobly make sure that all your tricks are done backwards, and all your rails are sw spins no less than 450s.

k so some good things to think about/ not think about:

-plan your run out in your head or on paper so you aren't making decisions mid run
-do not listen to or take any interest in what other people can do
-do not worry about what other people can do since worrying about it will only have negative effects on your run since you have no ability to determine what he/she will land or try
-have fun
-keep calm
-push yourself to do your best
-be prepared

contests are what some people strive on to progress becuase of all the peer pressure to try crazier shit, i dont really like em tho cus all the contests ive been in consist of alot of waiting and like 3 runs in like 5 hours is boring as fuck plus having to pay like money to be a part of it. They're fun tho if you actualy try shit
