Turntable bindings were alot better for release and didnt jar the knee as much.. as well as having a single screw to mount the back part of the binding to the ski giving the ski more room to flex. Stationary bindings are better for stability at high speeds, cheaper to make and way more transferable in binding systems
GENERALLY turntable bindings will be race stock gear, so often more metal is used in their construction adding to durability (And also often adding weight)
