Maybe this is an old topic, maybe its not. I have almost always used poles while skiing(I dont use poles when I teach beginers), until my latest outing. I decided I would leave my poles behind and go out and rip it like I always do. Just freeride no park(I do ride park a lot though). At first it felt a little awkward but once I was done with my first run it felt very natural to ski with my arms and hands free. I ski switch a lot and I felt more comfortable with my hands free. Obviously dropping my poles isnt going to revolutionize my skiing but I like the way it feels and I may never pick up my poles again. I might be mimicking Pep and Andy, but they might be on to something. If you can get past the initial awkwardness the gawking oldschoolers and get over feeling a little bit like a snowblader, you might find you will enjoy the extra freedom. Talk amongst yourselves and let me know how you feel.
Keep it real, Keep em on two planks :)
you may have just inspired me to try it next time i go up...thanks
show some love
