Help with drops
ok so sometimes when i do bigger drops when i land my knee slams into my chin/mouth. what am i doing wrong/what could i do better?
lean back a bit for your landing if it is going to be that intense.
IMO, a lot of that comes down to strength. I used to hit my face a lot when dropping sizable cliffs, but since I started working on lower body strength a lot, it hasn't happened much. If you're getting into really big drops, you might want to invest in a full face helmet and mouth guard.
Don't lean back for the landing, that'll just make you land sloppy, bounce, and eat shit. When you take off just drive your hands forward and tuck up a bit, then extend just before landing. It sounds to me like you're landing a bit forward, so try getting a little more weight on your heels when you come down. Obviously this will change for every cliff and snow condition, but just get a feel for it and give'r. A solid tomahawk is a lot more respectable than landing backseat or backslapping.

try to keep body compact almost like a cannonball, hands forward and try to find good steep deep landings...

if you land with some forward momentum you shouldnt wack yourself in the face.
Remeber to extend your legs before landing. Don't land backseat on larger drops... but it does sound like you aren't going with enough speed off the clff or your body is too far forward (ie bending forwared over your knees) when you land .

Keep your head up and look downhill on landing. That will stop your face from hitting your knees and you can spot your line out. Also you don't have to compress all the way. Try to just compress your knees, and don't bend a huge amount at the waist when landing. Probably not a good idea to lean back though. You lose control way easier if you land backseat.
