I want a video camera for x-mas, but I have no clue what is good or bad... help me choose a decent one if you can. It should be:
-Under $700 or around that price- not much higher than that though
-Able to work on a Mac
-Somewhat easy to use, because I am just beginning filming
-Good quality video
-Small so I can ski with it without lugging some huge camera around
Thanks

Damn, I was going to get that one, but it wasnt in my budget. I settled for the PV-GS320, just a step down from the 500. Its an x-mas gift, so I cant use it yet. Im just hoping its a nice cam!

If you're lucky you could find a good GL1 for a little more than that on ebay, but yeah, you won't find much other than the GS-500 within that price range...or you could try to get a GL2 for under 700 like that other kid

panasonic pv-gs500 would be a solid buy...not to mention its probably the best cam to start with...you can master alot of the controls on there for a long time and get very quality footage out of it...then if you are way into filming upgrade to something better.
