So I'm 15, live in MA but I boat in NH. Next summer, when I am 16, I can take out any kind of boat I want as long as I have my boating license. If I get my boat license in MA, does it work in NH? And driving license has nothing to do with this...
I think rules changed for that, you can take a practice one online, then you need to take a proctored one. If you are over 18 you can just take an online one and it's easy, but yeah I think under 18 you need to do proctored.
I think it should be easy, I just don't want to drive and take the stupid classes.
I did mine when I was 11 or 12 I think. Took the good portion of the afternoon. We didn't go out in a boat but we were on the dock and talked about it. Some guys were there because they strapped an outboard to a canoe. I thought that was pretty hillarious.
I have had mine since I was 13, and I boat in Canada with NY license, I'm pretty sure as long as you have one, and you aren't acting like a complete ass on the water you're fine.
Yeah, I need one because I am on the water all the time in the summer... next summer I will be wakeboarding and wakeskating with friends and I'll have to pull, then I'm taking a jetski to work each day, so yeah I think I will get it in MA and then play dumb if i get pulled over... I've been on boats all my life so I know how to not be an idiot on the water haha.
I'm up in Canada but I got mine a while ago. I don't think it matters where you got and where you use it as long as its the same country just like a driving license. Also up here your still allowed to operate >45 hp by yourself before your 16 but thats not much to play with. The boating test was hard as shit when I took it, but I was also 12 so I dunno they asked stupid questions about sailboats though.
