Mouting bindings: is forward the way to go?

I've been looking at a lot of pro's setups in magazines and movies, and it looks like almost everybody has their bindings mounted pretty far forward, even on their powder skis. Is this the way to go, even for skis that will see primarily all-mountain usage? I'm asking because I just got some Line Blends and had them mounted at +1cm from the midsole line, even though the guys at Line said I should only mount at the midsole line. Looking at my skis now though, the bindings still look like they're really far back. I ride park periodically, but I normally ride all over the mountain. On an all-mountain ski like the Blend, should I have gotten the bindings mounted even further forward? What's everyone's opinion on this?

of you are going to be spinning off of natural features/jumps, and especially if you are oging to be landing switch, then it's helpful to have them more forward. if you only ski forwards and aren't spinning around, it's not a big deal.Â
The reason why pros mount forward is because they are not only constantly spinning off cliffs/jumps et, plenty of them are landing switch. Not only that, but many of them are used to skiing a park ski at center, so even for skiing forwards, it's more natural. Some people, like Seth, who don't really ski switch will do it because they perfer the stability of having more tail.Â
In the end it's up to you, and personal preference.

ehh, its pretty much all up to you dude. if you dont ski more than at least 25 percent park, i wouldnt worry about it, but its not a big deal if you want to remount

I ride center mount because I do a lot of spinning and riding switch.
You will lose some float and the ski will ride a bit different when
riding forward. (Unless you have a ski that's meant to be center
mounted) It moves your edge further back so your center of gravity
will have to be further back during a turn to use your edge most
effectively. It kind of depends which is more important to you: Extra
float and edging while riding forward, or extra float riding switch and
better park performance.
Personally, once I got used to the center mounting, I didn't feel it
hindered my skiing ability and it was an improvement on riding switch
and spinning. However, I do have symmetrical twins...

Well pro's are mounting their skis further forward becasue they're for their little flippy spin things. Other pro's liek Treadway and Hugo are not going to be mounting their skis forward at all. It's all about the type of skiing.

well where most skis say is center is a couple back of where it really is. where it said core center was on my fujis was 2 cm back. i have mine at 1cm forward of center and it doesn't feel weird at all. actually i like it a lot right now

No, I'm not talking about mounting bindings forward of center, I just mean forward of the manufacturer's recommended midsole line.

i have a pair of urban triplets (symmetrical) mounted +2 from centre *the actual centre of the ski* because they had to be remounted and the holes conflicted and i was only using them for a week...ANYWAYS. it felt pretty weird but landing switch was dope.
i know thats not what you were asking but its a little story

i swear the farther foward of the recomended line the better. It seems as though companies make the reccomended line really far back. true center would be good for almost everything, and i would say forward of that even if you ride a lot of park and ski switch more often then not.
