so i just went to my local ski shop here in brookfield, wi and i found out everything there is just a joke.first off they are not getting the PE's in even though they are a k2 delealer. 2nd they only got 1 pair of 175cm TM. No scratches for this year atleast he said they were on order. and get this the guy at the shop had no idea about the Scratch and scratch fs. he thought rossi had a new twin time out this year (forget the name he told me). and to top it off they are not carrying the 181cm 1080 because he said that they were just to big to 'Spin' with.
sounds like a place in bangor i went there one day and ask about Armada 4frnt and line they said they have never heard of any of them and they wouldnt ever carry some thing they dont know about. First of all if you dont know about any of the big twin tips skis you should own a shop cause that is where the sport is going and they dont have a clue about any of it. I think they were thinking i was making up names for skis when i asked them. it pissed me off so much.
i would also like to point out that they didnt have any freeskier, ski, skiing, powder, freeze, or axis mags, no volume video mags or no ski movies (Well they are getting movies in soon, but none from last year) and i am not even going to mention clothes....sypder and north face, that is it
thats the same for me in clothes. my shop carries freeskier mag. they dont got to many twins but i think its funny that they carry bc ski's in minnesota (pocket rockets and seth pistols). what bc do we have maybe a whole 2 inches of fresh powder.
Sounds like my shop. Last winter I remember asking about twins and all he wanted to sell me was 1080s in the 171. Well I'm 6'4' and I told him need the 181 for stability, and I prefered longer skis, but all he could say is the 181 would be way too much ski for me. I couldn't handle it, espically in the park. Thats when I decided to never set foot in there again and buy directly from a rep. __________________________
sounds like one of my old shops, but it went out of business, a new shop i goto has a lot of good stuff and im applying for a job there, so maybe i will get hooked up with deals once i work there
the owner of my shop spent like 30 minutes explaining why the elan airtwist is better than every twintip on the market. They only had line and elan, but they didnt carry line skis, only snowblades.
Dont copy that floppy!
Hey, I swear by my shop, if they don't have it, chances are they'll get it for me. I just hate going to shops where they are stuck up and assume if they don't know you, you are an intermediate at best and have no clue what you are talking about. I just like going to these types of places and making them realize their sales people don't know dick, and they carry crap.
As far as a lot of shops not carrying the smaller companies, I think it goes deeper than just the shops may not know about them. A lot of shops won't carry em because of the possibility the company may not exsist in a year or two and are concerned about their customers having problems with warranty type stuff. So although they looose some customers that want the small companies, they keep their other customers happy. A lot of shops would rather someone be dissapointed that the shop doesn't carry something rather than get pissed off because something happened to the ski and now its a loss, and the customer is pissed, and tells everyone they got screwed over.
