so theres a helly shop in aspen.... and they are itching for local sponsorships, would it be worth it to get on their team for my first sponsor? or is it a load of shit?
i believe the helly store in aspen is a corporate owned store. usually local sponsorships come through the reps, but if it's a corporate store they don't need to deal with the helly rep here. i also heard that they sell another brand of outerwear in that particular helly store, but i can't remember which brand right now. regardless, i thought it was weird.
helly hansen is a really solid company. they make some of best gear, i had a jacket of theirs once and it was the warmest thing out there. if you can get sponsored from them... do it.
helly stores are private owned.... i work at the one in tahoe and sometimes the owners want to get riders to promote their store, not just the brand....
defently do it. it really depends on what your best at or if you decent at everything. like can you do some backcountry booters, rip overhead powder, throw down a nasty backcounty spin, hit up some urban without any thought, shred the pipe, and connect and be creative. if you can do 4 of those 6 like ther is no tomorrow then you should have the sponsership in the bag. being creative is the most important. i think you should go for it.
not all of them are franchised. i worked at the one here in broomfield for a while until the owner sold the store back to helly. the store in boulder is the only helly store in colorado that's a franchised store now.
why does everybody not believe this guy? Seriously, they will sponsor Am guys in the area, if the gear needs promotion/shop needs promotion in the area. It just means that he is not going to be in the catalog, or be in a matchstick movie, or ski in alaska....it just means he will rep their stuff.
My buddy has a basic sponsorship by oakley.......just 3 goggles, a pair of sunglasses, some tees, and a hoodie with a bunch of stickers. You can get sponsored regionaly by anybody really if your good enough.
i know right! i just went into a shop asking for xl jackets and he tolded me to drop my resume and a tape and he might sponsor me! props to you sir. extra karma points.
